Epilogue

*Four years later*

"I'm finished."

"Really?" He nodded. "Would you look at that, it only took you three years."

"Нaha, funny. You're making jokes. I had to make sure the money wasn't being traced."

"And it took you so long?"

"You don't understand the dynamics of it. I had to move billions of dollars without giving off the slightest clue it's being moved."

"You're getting stars in your eyes. Come back to the present."

"So what do we do now?"

"With the money?"

"Yeah."

"Put it all in a Swiss account in Talon's names."

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me Cafar. Just do it."

"All of it?"

"Yes, all of it. It's his money, not mine."

"But surely you're entitled to at least half of it."

"I'm entitled to all of it, but that's not the point. The point is that money belonged to his father, now it's his. I have my own money."

"I don't understand you Rose."

"You don't have to."

"It's not your fault he died you know."

"Caf, don't."

"I just want you to know that."

"I still miss him, but I don't feel like I want to die anymore." He kissed my forehead.

"Good."

"Thank you."

"For what?"

"I've never told you thank you before. Thanks for sticking by me when I didn't have the courage to even stay alive."

"You're welcome."

"I need to get going."

"Why do you keep on doing it even though you know it's dangerous?"

"Because it's what I can do. You know the situation, Caf. I help your brother because I can. I don't want the same thing happening to unsuspecting foreigners."

"I don't know why I even bother. You won't change your mind."

"I won't."

"What about Talon? Is he up?" At the mention of his name my beautiful baby boy came charging in.

"Mama!" I had to cover my ears. He was so loud. Cafar grabbed him before he could bolt into my arms. "We go now!" I raised my eyebrow at him but answered.

"Yes sweetie. We're going now." He bounced up and down in Cafar's arms.

"Uncle Caf, down." They started speaking to each other in Turkish because Talon was more comfortable at the moment with that language. But he was only three years old. I have no doubt that he'll be a natural at languages like his father. What was I going to do with him then?

"Have you been studying?"

"Yes, mama." He rolled his eyes. "I write name." Caf put him down and he ran from the room and returned with a sheet of paper and a crayon. "See, mama."

"Look," I corrected him. He frowned but nodded and proceeded to write with his crayon.

"See." I didn't bother correcting him again this time. He held up the sheet of paper.

"Very good sweetie. Now can you read it?"

"Mama." He tilted his head to the side like I'd asked him a stupid question. Then he pointed to the first name. "Ta-lon A-u-gust Ma-ddox." Now he was just being smart.

"Very good. Now read the next one." He pointed again.

"Ca-far."

"Perfect. Now the last one."

"Rose." There wasn't any over exaggeration on the last name like the others.

"Wonderful!" Cafar and I clapped.

"Who is Talon?" He smiled then jumped up and down shouting the word me. "And who is Cafar?"

"Uncle Caf, mama."

"That's right baby bird." I rolled my eyes at Caf's nickname for him.

"Who is Rose?"

"Mama," he said excitedly. His blue eyes shone with joy.

"My baby boy is really smart." He smiled proudly. "So doesn't mama get her daily hug and kiss anymore?" I pouted. He ran over at top speed. I lowered myself to his level and spread my arms. He giggled as they wrapped around him and squeezed. When I pulled back he kissed my cheeks and shyly twirled his finger around a lock of my now long black hair.

"Pretty." I smiled and scooped him up in my arms. He wiggled. This one is going to be a heartbreaker. I just knew it.

"Let's go see Uncle Bayar."

"Yay!" He squealed and bounced in my arms. He was getting so big already. I'm glad I made the decision to keep him. I only live for him now; not for myself, but for him. I live for his pleasure and happiness. This is the gift that Phoenix left me, and I have gladly accepted it. I have created a life for me and my son. It might not be the life I had envisioned, but it's the one I have.

I'm Rose Summers. I am the mother of a three year old and the leader of a vigilante gang. In the eyes of the law they are rebels and I am the rebels' leader. I am the heiress who turned into a rebel.
