Did I hear him correctly?

The Nick Jonas...the youngest member of the Jonas Brothers wants to be with me?

"Nick, I..."

He looked nervous under my gaze and it was almost precious how he managed to look like that when he was so comfortable on the idea that he will be performing in front of thousands of people.

"You don't have to say anything just yet, Y/N. I'm not rushing you." Nick rubbed his nape slowly before he turned to the cooler beside the picnic basket and took out two cans of juice. He opened one before handing it to me. "I just want you to know that."

I nodded slowly. "By saying you want to be with me...what do you mean?" At this point, I honestly don't want us to have a misunderstanding.

The pink hue on his cheeks turned to a deeper color. "I meant that I want you to be my girlfriend. I want us to date and by that, I meant exclusively." He said softly. "Again, this is not me trying to pressure you into anything. If you want something else, that's okay too."

It isn't that I want something else. I do like Nick a lot but I needed time to digest the mere fact that he even wants to be with me.

"How about...we try going out more first?" It was the only alternative I can think of. I want to be with him but we've only known each other for a few months and this is the first time we even gone out alone. "I like you too, Nick."

Nick nodded and smiled, "Sure. Let's try that."

"Is that...okay?"

"Of course." He chuckled, "I won't force you into something just because I want it." Then he opened his can, "I honestly just want to be with you. Going out on dates is something I really want. Let's talk about the girlfriend thing next time." Nick winked at me.

I let out a breath, afraid that he'd suddenly change his mind.

"So, how did you have an idea like this? Did Joe help you?" I asked as I continued eating, taking stuff from the cheese board he laid out between us.

Nick shook his head and flashed a big grin at me, "This was all me." He sounded proud of himself, "I thought of taking you out for dinner but I don't know which restaurant you'd like and honestly, I'd like to have dinner without cameras flashing everywhere. I don't want to put you on the spot."

Of all the things I could forget...it had to be the fact that I am having dinner with a famous Disney star. It was so easy to look past at because he was so grounded and down to earth but the paparazzi will stay as a constant reminder that he is the Nick Jonas.

And I was...me.

To be honest, even though I have been in a few shows (I mean... I would be an extra with a few speaking parts) I couldn't consider myself as someone from Disney. I see myself more as a girl who yearns to be in Disney.

Being with Nick scares me. I can just imagine what people would say now.

"...and then we're here! You like the set up... And...uh, Y/N?" Nick's animated expression, from what I think is a story of the origination of the date idea, faltered ever so slightly.

"Oh, sorry. I was distracted..."

You can see his expression saddening. "With what?"

I knew I had to say something, something to make him smile... "Your eyes."

Well, it honestly did not make him smile. It made him pink. Nick opened his mouth to speak but closed it immediately after. Did I render him completely speechless?

"Sorry. What was that again?" I was not about to tell Nick of my worries. It isn't important.

Right now, all I need to care about is this amazing person in front of me.

It took Nick a few minutes to regain his composure and when he did, he was quite lively. I never expected it from him since he was incredibly quiet before.

"Should I take you home?" Nick grinned as we packed up, "I promised your dad I'd bring you home safely." We laughed before he continued, "I enjoyed spending time with you today. I hope you liked everything."

I nodded, "Thank you Nick. I did. I loved ending my day with you."

"Oh, I'll still message you to make sure I end your day." Nick chuckled, giving me that smile that continues to make my knees weak. "If you'd like, I can begin your day too."

"And how do you plan to do that, Nicholas Jonas?" I teased as we made our way back to the house.

It was then that his casual flirting went to adorable bashfulness, "...may I call you?"

"Yes please!" I'm not sure if that came out overly eager but I was.

"Alright."

My parents were having coffee in the sitting room and we stopped by so Nick can say goodbye.

"You're late. Where did you take my daughter?" My dad chuckled as he turned to the wall clock then back at us, "That was a good one, Nicholas. Very creative."

"Thank you sir. I'll go now. My ride is here." He smiled politely at my parents.

When they said their goodbyes, I walked Nick to the door. Before leaving, Nick turned to me.

"I'm leaving now."
"I know. So...goodbye?"

And with his beautiful smile, Nick said, "No. Not a goodbye, see you later."
