It was a beautiful day as spring began. Cherry blossoms from the tree descends towards the ground in a tantalizing way
Hundreds of students lined up as they waited for the start of the entrance ceremony
The time finally came and the emcee of the ceremony greeted them all
"Next, we will be presenting the top student with their class badge! Incoming Valedictorian, Nakiri Erina!"
Erina was welcomed as the top prospect of the 92nd Tōtsuki Generation from the Middle School section
She elegantly walked towards the center of the stage with a confident smile, slightly bowing towards the person in front of her that clipped her badge
"We now welcome our keynote speaker, the director of our Totsuki Academy, Nakiri Senzaemon-sama."
The gruff old man first cleared his throat and then greets them, looking around the large body of young chefs
"Congratulations on your advancement to the highschool division, you have obtained a basic skills set in cooking and deepened your understanding of each ingredient. The challenges you'll now face are not about your skills or knowledge but whether you have the will to survive as a food professional.
99% of you are meant to be sacrifices for honing the remaining percent! Aspire to become one of the small handful of those professionals. Hone yourself!"
He pointed his index finger to them, his words surely ignited the flames of determination that will lead them to fight for their dreams
"That is all." Senzaemon walked off the stage
While the blonde beauty sat inside a secluded area near the stage wearing a satisfied smile. Her thoughts began to wander elsewhere
'I pity those of you who're in the same generation as me, you have been destined to fight over who gets to be in second place. The Pinnacle of Totsuki Academy, and of the Japanese food world, belongs to me, Nakiri Erina.'
"Finally, we'd like to introduce one transfer student who'll be joining your ranks today."
The students once again began whispering under their breath. There were rumors surrounding the red head that spread the same day as the examination
"Hey, I heard he's the examinee that made Chapelle-sensei smile!"
"Seriously?!"
"That sounds ridiculous!"
Hearing the said rumor made the rest to be intimidated and wary of soma
Soma stood with his back straight and chin held high infront of everyone while wearing his mask. His dormmates looked at him in confusion
"I'll keep this short and sweet. The name is Yukihira. This academy is just a stepping stone to me and now that I'm here, I'm gonna take the number one spot." He bowed, smiling smugly and then left like he already won
'This oughta make things interesting.' Soma thought
Enraged, the students threw things at him and wished for him to fail as soon as possible
Just like the others, Erina see him as a threat that needs to be eliminated at all cost
When Soma arrived at Erina's location and locked eyes with her. His personality suddenly took a turn from being arrogant to one of being childish
"Wow! I didn't expect a beautiful princess to grace me with her presence!" He playfully bowed
"Wh-What? Stop that at once!" Erina's face bloomed with the bright hue of red and tried to regain her composure
