Chapter 57: Arouse

A Month Later.

Robbie: Huh? Where... am I?
Chloe: Hey, good. You're awake. How are you feeling?
Robbie: W-what's that?
Chloe: Food.
Chloe: Don't worry, it's edible. I promise.
Chloe: And no, this isn't hospital food. I bought it from outside.
Robbie: Why am I here? What happened?
Chloe: You don't remember anything?
Robbie: No, I mean... wait... oh my god!
Robbie: That jackass Yusuf! I have to-
Chloe: No, stay. It's fine. Yusuf is gone now.
Robbie: Already? Wait, how do you know-
Chloe: Madison explained to me everything a while back.
Chloe: And well... he died a month ago, so-

Chloe: It's okay. At least you didn't get involved with terrifying experiences. You should be proud that you're in good shape.
Robbie: How much have you been visiting me?

Chloe: It's no big deal. I only did what I thought would give assistance to our bond.
Robbie: So you must be exhausted of watching me stay asleep too much.
Robbie: Perhaps, I should make up for that.
Robbie: How about I take you to a fancy restaurant with me? You can order any dinner meal you'd like. I'll pay for it.
Chloe: Are you trying to ask me out on a date?
Robbie: Undoubtedly. Is that okay with you?
Chloe: Until you get out of this hospital and you're in safe health, then we'll go out together.
Chloe: But for now, don't push yourself too much.
Robbie: Okay then. Deal.
Chloe: You should call your friends. Tell them to come here.
Chloe: They've been constantly worried about you.
Robbie: Oh, yeah, you're right.
*40 Minutes Later.
Gabe: Robbie! It's so good to see that you're awake!
Joyce: We've missed you so much.
Madison: We couldn't help, but buy you presents.
Robbie: Aw, that's so sweet and caring. You guys didn't have to do that.
Joyce: Don't worry about it.
Gabe: Just take it. You deserve it more than anything, man.
Reagan: Here, Chloe. This is from us.
Reagan: Happy Birthday.
Robbie: It's your birthday today?! Why didn't you tell me?!
Robbie: We were talking for like 40 minutes together.
Chloe: I'm sorry, I didn't wanna make a big deal out of it. You waking up is the best gift for me.
Robbie: I don't care. I'm still going to buy you something pleasant.
Madison: Chloe, the birthday gift is the best one for you.
Joyce: It's a concert ticket to your favorite band that you've been desperate to go.
Reagan: I told them that you wish to attend there.
Chloe: Oh my gosh! You guys, that's so wonderful. I love it so much. Thank you.
Robbie: When does it start?
Chloe: Next week.
Reagan: You won't be alone. I got myself one as well to go with you.
Chloe: Awesome!
Robbie: Can we switch, whatever your name is?
Reagan: Reagan Hathaway. And no.
Robbie: Robbie Lawrence.
Robbie: And boo!
Reagan: Don't take it too personally, Robbie.
Chloe: Yeah, it's okay. We're going on a date anyway.
Everyone except Chloe and Robbie: What?!
Robbie: You guys are surprised by that?
Joyce: That's fantastic!
Madison: I hope you two enjoy.
Gabe: Good luck. Take pictures together and have plenty of fun.
Reagan: Wear a condom.
Everyone stared at Reagan with a judgmental reaction.
Reagan: For safety precautions.
Chloe: You're so humiliating, Reagan.
Reagan: Shut it. You love and adore me. I bet you're glad to have a friend like me.
Chloe: Can't deny that.
Robbie: Hey, we're missing someone here.
Robbie: Where's Alex? Did he make it out alive?
Everyone remained silent to Robbie's question that he was concerned about. Joyce looked down on the ground with a melancholy, visage expression.
Robbie: He is okay... right?
Gabe: No, he's not.
Gabe: He didn't make it. Neither did my Dad.
Madison: My sister Ariana died when me, Reagan, and Ariana as well were getting Gabe back when he got kidnapped by Yusuf.
Madison: Yusuf shot her.
Robbie: Shit. Chloe, not to sound impolite or anything, but why didn't you tell me about that?
Gabe: Don't blame her. She shouldn't be held accountable.
Madison: We wanted to tell you all together.
Chloe: Please forgive me.
Robbie: Oh, it's okay. I'm not mad at you for it. I was just curious.
Robbie: But thank you... for letting me know the information.
Robbie's eyes were completely different. He made a striving attempt not to display that in front of us, but as his close friend, I can notice how heartbroken he appears to be. Alex was like a twin brother to him. They both shared some similar personality traits and a linked connection. It was like a miracle that they met. And now that he woke up and hears the news about Alex being deceased... it's like he can't somewhat accept that, even though he needs to move ahead for the benefit of our lives. Later on, as time went by, everyone had to leave the hospital. The doctors said that he'll be out in the next few days, which is something I'm extremely happy about. Night has made it to its destination and I went back to my house to eat dinner. As I was eating, I could see a ghost vision of my dad and Alex talking each other with a grin on their face. God, I miss them so much. After I finished devouring my meal, I went to go get some sleep in my bedroom. It was starting to appear late anyways.

Alex: What? You're part of a gang?
Gabe: Yes, it's known as the Queens Gang.
Gabe: I've been there for a while now. I just thought that you deserve to know.
Alex: I mean, I knew there was something odd about your behavior, but I didn't think it would be something like this.
Alex: I thought it was just girl troubles with Madison or something like that.
Gabe: Haha, very funny.
Gabe: You're not disappointed in me, are you?
Alex: No. What you do with your life is something I shouldn't take control of.
Alex: Feel free to do whatever you please to do. As long as it doesn't bring you to any suffering consequences.
Alex: But don't you dare murder innocent people! Or else I won't forgive you.
Gabe: Don't worry, I'm not like that. I swear.
Alex: Including yourself. Don't die.
Gabe: What an inspiring choice of words. But thanks, I'll try.
Alex: King A, huh?
Alex: It's funny because that's my last name and the letter "A" is the beginning of my first name.
Gabe: Yeah, come to think of it, that's crazy.
Gabe: I had that gang name before I met you to hide my real identity.
Gabe: Quite Strange.
Gabe: It's like I met you by fate.
Alex: Best bros for life, don't ya think?
Gabe: Of course, but when you say it like that, you make it sound ridiculous.
Gabe and Alex: *Laughing*
*Back to the present.
Gabe: Oh... it was just a dream.
I stared at my right hand. Feeling like a void and so empty. Without Alex, I feel like I lost a half of my well-being in some kind of way. It's been a month and I still wish he was here. But like I said before... we have to move ahead to benefit our lives. We can't afford to allow our existence feel like a waste and exhibit to be no worth. Time is flowing by pretty rapidly. We won't forget them and we'll continue to miss and treasure them, but that doesn't mean we can be disheartened forever. I think it's time to discover contentment again.
