Sirius and I wanted a kid.

We wanted a do-over. He w=should have raised harry together and we didn't, but we wanted too. Nymph was the only one who knew because of that day she asked if I loved him. I told her we should wait till after the war, but she told me now or never and Sirius and I were so scared of another Harry that we agreed. Nymph volunteered to be our surrogate and we let her. It was brilliant anyways, she and Sirius were cousins so the child would have half their DNA and half mine. We were blessed.

When we showed up at the war, we thought about him. The child. We let Tonks pick a first name because she had done the hard part of carrying him and birthing him, we would pick a middle name. We'd only seen the baby once, when he was born, before he was named. Then the war kept us apart, made it too difficult to go see him.

I left about him during the war. I know Sirius thought about him.

"I'll have your back," I told him, "we won't be repeating the department of mysteries today"

He grinned, "oh moony, always so protective of me"

Now we were in the middle of it.

"Pads, behind!"

He turned and shot someone down, turned back to me and fired another spell. I turned to watch another one fall behind me. We went back to fighting.

"Take that you sexist bitch!" I saw the flash of pink hair follow the voice.

"Nymph?!"

Sirius turned to see and he laughed. "Not even birth could keep you from a fight!"

She laughed and winked. "Always wanted to fight these guys"

And then we were back at it. Screaming left and right, protecting each other.

A familiar face approached, "I recognize those scars anywhere", he growled.

"I'd recognize your stench anywhere", I retorted, firing a spell at Fenrir Greyback while he lunged at me, teeth bared.

Sirius turned and we double teamed him, slashing through the air with our wands and leaving him limping away. Nymph had disappeared into the crowd. We pushed on.

When Voldemort's voice range, it felt like taking my first breath. I relaxed into Sirius before we were off helping clean the damage. Sirius and i sat with the Weasley's for a moment, comforting them and fighting the urge to cry: it was too soon and the Weasley's didn't need us crying with them, right now.

Eventually we got up to keep going when we heard another kid yelling. Proffessor Sprout was at his side. I recognized him.

"Padfoot"

"Hm?"

"Is that one of Harry's roommates?"

Sirius followed my gaze to the sobbing boy. "Yeah, yeah. Dean, I think was his name. Maybe Seamus"

"the gay couple, right?"

"Yep"

"Poor kid. I feel awful for him"

Sirius squeezed my hand. We watched Dean- or Seamus- call for him, he was too far to make out words but you could tell from his face he was calling for his lover. His other half.

"they must not have found the body yet," I mumbled.

"That's terrible, I can't imagine."

I stared at him. "I can. It's awful"

"Should we go see him?"

McGonagall was approaching him.

"Ah. Minnie McG's got it," Sirius answered his own question. We turned away and I froze.

"No. No, no, no, no, no."

"What hap- oh. Nymph" Sirius ran a few feet to her body and dropped to his knees, I followed, my feet feeling like lead.

"Nymph. Oh god. No" Sirius was blubbering.

I held her cold hand, "Oh Nymph..."

I let go and grabbed Sirius instead. We cried, we reminisced, we thought of the baby far aware. Unaware that his mother was gone.

After a minute we moved away from Nymph, not able to bear that she wasn't here. We sat silently just holding each other and waiting it out, thankful that we were still alive, still together.

"If-" Sirius started nervously, "If Voldemort dies, will you kiss me? Hard, on the lips, in front of everyone?"

I looked at his eyes. They were so wide and so small at the same time, Sirius was so nervous and so excited and how could I say no to that face?

"Yes, Padfoot. I'll kiss you in front of everyone so that we can have the nice big dramatic reveal that you have always wanted"

"YES! I have always wanted a dramatic reveal, you know? I mean, we're hiding a whole relationship and nobody even suspects it and were doing it so well and that shit is hard! It should be dramatic, like, 'hey I'm completely in love with this idiot right here and he's mine and look at us kiss wow we're so in love'. You know?"

I was blushing very much. "I know. And I always told you no"

"You always told me no!" Sirius repeated, like it was the funniest joke he'd heard all day.

"But now I'm saying yes"

"Yeah," He smiled so wide I thought the war was over. But then someone cried and I remembered.

"Where d'you think Harry his?" I asked.

"I don't know, probably somewhere that isn't safe. Hopefully out of death's reach"

"Do you think he's thinking of us?"

"Wondering if we're dead, you mean?"

"Yes... and no. Thinking about advice we've given him over the years. D'you think he's made decisions on behalf of something we said or did?"

"My, my, moony, you've had too much time to think." He smiled teasingly down at me then thought about it. "Most likely, although were not the best role models. But, I think he thinks of James and Lily when he thinks of us"

"I hope he's okay," I whispered.

"Oh, moony, you have no idea how much I hope he's alive at the end of this"

We both sighed.

"Be careful, Harry" I said to no one in particular. Sirius hugged me. "Come back to us when this is over, Harry, please."

I hugged him back.
