Happy Pride Month! It's been a bit, but I'm here with a new chapter! I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with this one, but in the end, I figured it out :)

Technically, when I am posting this, it is June 11th, which means that Paul turns 25 today! Hard to believe we're already in June 2021. Like, where did January go? Or the other months? Also, the pic above was from my YouTube feed on August 17th, 2019. Almost two years ago. Hard to believe, I know. Anyways, onward with the story!

WARNING: None :P

It wasn't often, but Matt liked to watch people. Sometimes, he did it when he was bored. Others, Matt did it just because. However, something he loved was seeing how the people in his life grew or changed. Noticing how the boys matured into who they were now was a privilege that Matt could honestly say he had a part in helping.

When his boys had first come to the studio, they practically froze in front of the cameras. Outside of the camera world, however, they were all different. Connor and Tanner were both talkative, whereas Woods and Paul kept to themselves, Paul more so than Woods.

Connor talked with those who he felt comfortable talking with, which was pretty much everyone at the studio. When the camera was on, though, he fell into a more quiet and reserved person. But overall, Connor was a likeable person at the studio. Sure, he quickly became the brunt of some of the jokes, but he took it in stride.

Years later, Connor's personality hadn't changed much, but his attitude towards life did, and it was for the better. He would always have a special place in Matt's heart.

Tanner had spent his first day chatting with everyone willing to listen, even after getting hired. He wasn't the best on camera, but he did try not to seem awkward (even if it still turned out that way in the end). Most times, when the cameras weren't rolling, he was seen joking and laughing with someone else (usually, it was with one of the bois).

Now, Tanner was one who Matt could say had a giant leap in maturity level over the past five years. From the goofy kid to the more mature adult, Tanner was someone who Matt was proud to say was one of his best friends.

Woods was someone who hadn't changed as much as the others, but he did have the shift from raw boyish charm to masculine charisma. Even the other members of GG could see it. Woods' voice was a smidge deeper, he was starting to get facial hair that wasn't nearly as patchy, and he was more mature in his thought process.

Starting as a Production Assistant and watching as Woods worked his way up to talent for Dope or Nope and Project: 863 was an exciting journey for Matt to partake in.

Paul was something else. On and off camera, he was shy. He only talked with a few people, and even then, he was bashful. When the cameras were filming, Matt was sure that not even a mic would have helped Paul become any louder.

Thus, Matt had Paul be a camera boy for Hi5 Universe.

But all that did was close Paul up even more. There were times where the CEO had to ask Paul to repeat what he'd said, just to be sure he knew what the younger male was saying. Even Connor had trouble at times, and he was his best friend!

So, Matt put Paul in charge of Googly Eyes. Matt also put him in more Battle Universe (previously Hi5 Universe) videos as talent, and the occasional times he needed a camera boy.

And finally, slowly, Paul came out of his shell.

While he didn't talk a whole lot still, he did begin to speak a bit louder. Paul socialised with more people at the studio, and he learned how to communicate in longer sentences instead of just short fragments. On camera, Paul was even louder, and he was more open with his expressions.

Now, almost five years later since joining Hi5, Paul had evolved into a new person. He was more confident in himself, and he was more sure about what he wanted to do with life.

Which was why it was hard for Matt to say goodbye.

With Get Good Gaming not making enough money, the CEO had to make the hard choice to let the entire crew go, which unfortunately included Paul and Connor.

It wasn't anyone's fault, really. It wasn't Matt's choice on whether or not someone would stay with the company or move on to other things. All he could do was help guide them in the proper direction of where they wanted to go.

There were many things, though, that Matt would never forget.

Matt would never forget the moments he had on Get Good Gaming.

Matt would never forget how much brighter the day was with them around.

Matt would never forget how much fun Get Good Gaming was because of Connor and Paul's help.

And even though the two were no longer at the studio, Matt would always be thankful for the time they put into their work.

Paul helped Googly Eyes become what it was.

Connor helped Team Edge Gaming turn into something enjoyable.

Both of them helped shape Hi5 Studios.

Paul allowed Get Good Gaming to grow into the channel it was destined to be.

Connor allowed Get Good Gaming to have the content it deserved.

Both of them allowed for new ideas to blossom for the company.

Paul gave Connor, Tanner, and Matt (and Woods and Mitch and many, many more) the chance to play video games for their jobs.

Connor gave Paul, Tanner, and Matt (and the others) the option to make jokes and have fun on the set.

Both of them gave others around them the energy the Get Good Gaming set needed.

And Matt couldn't be more grateful for it all, although he still felt a bit depressed about the whole thing.

Because it wasn't just the goodbye that was hard.

It was the part where Matt realised he would have to let go of the past.

So, what did you think? Good? Bad? Meh? Lemme know! I love hearing from you guys :)

Originally, this wasn't supposed to be angsty. In fact, it was only supposed to be a slight character study from Matt's (and my) perspective. Then the thing with GG got added in, and here we are. Apologies for it going all over the place, but I wasn't sure how to end it, so I left it a bit vague on purpose to kind of give you guys the chance to come up with how you want it to end. Maybe I get the next chapter up in a month? We'll see, haha. Until next time!
