Chapter 40 - Be prepared

Thomas's pov

I woke up early again this morning. Cassidy was coming tomorrow with whatever belonged to Alex. I still have Winston's necklace that we took off her that Janson gave to her. I wish I could give it back to Alex. I miss Alex everyday. I am still not over Alex's death. I just wished she didn't jump in front of me. If I just pushed her out the way, she would still be here. I know it's not my fault and it's not hers because she saved me but still, I just wished that she was here. I wish I could hear her laugh or voice one more time and see her smile once more.

Anyway I sighed heavily and stroked the necklace she gave me. Ever since I read her letter that is all I do when I am stressed or scared or anxious. I just stroke my necklace and it feels like she's still here with me if that makes sense. Maybe it is just a comforting thing or a way for me to finish dealing with the grief of losing her my grief. I got dresses and walked outside the hut ad met up with the others who were running about getting weapons ready because in case Cassie was lying and the worst scenario.

"So what can I do to help?" I said to Jorge running around

"Get the guns ready and put them in our hut because we need to be prepared for tomorrow" He said

I nodded and put the guns he handed me in the hut and then walked back.

"What now?" I said

"Make sure we all have protective underclothing ready for tomorrow in case they shoot as our chests we are protected." Vince said

I ran back to the hut and put our clothes ready for tomorrow all on our hammocks. Once I was done I ran back to everyone.

"We done?" I said

"For now" Brenda said sitting down on Eddie's lap.

"So what's the game plan for tomorrow?" I said

Vince and all our friends sat down. I sat with them next to Newt and Minho.

"Well we don't what time they are coming, we doubt it will be like four in the morning but we will wake up at six and then we will all get ready and then wait outside with our under protective clothes on and have ours guns ready. Brenda and Sonya will stayed hidden as they are pregnant" Minho said

"What? No we are fighting" Brenda said

"Baby you can't we don't want to lose our little Lucas" Eddie said looking at her

"I am fighting as well" Sonya said

"No you are not angel" Charlie said

"But Charlie" She said

"No Sonya that is my final answer. No is no" He said

"What if we stand close to you guys then?" Sonya said

"Fine" Charlie caved in

"Alright" Eddie said and sighed

"As Minho was saying when we have our guns ready everyone else will remain hidden in their huts till we give out the signal for them to come out. The signal is Vince shouting come out, come out. The only people out will be Jorge, Vince, Brenda, Rob, Billy, Charlie, Eddie, Sonya, Harriet, Minho, Newt, Aris, Frypan, you Thomas and I" Gally said

"We need to be prepared for the worst" Harriet said

"Who knows what could happen tomorrow?" Harriet said

"We don't" Frypan said

"That's what scares me, we are finally safe and now this?" Billy said

"Nothing bad will happen tomorrow" I said
