Arcane.

(adj.) Arcane /ɑːˈkeɪn/... Understood by few; mysterious or secret.

❝There are some people who you look at,
and you can just tell how their story will end.
I don't know what it is; they have everything going for them,
but you just get the sense that it will never be enough.

But when I look at you,
I just know instinctively that despite the odds against you
and although life will always find a way to test you,
someday you'll have everything you want.
Your ending will be a happy one.❞

IN WHICH, Thalia Laine is hurled into the 70th annual Hunger Games ― winning by the skin of her teeth (and several other parts of her body...) Undergoing the undercurrents, and the riptides of her "victory." Finding a sliver of peace amongst all the chaos (―regardless of the torments that she suffers, and the memories that burden her―) only to have that "peace" thrown right back into her face. To be told that she, of all people, doesn't deserve it ― that she doesn't even get the choice to have it ― and especially not with him. To be denied it, with the price that came with her survival ― once, twice, and countless other times. The peak of it being with the announcement of the 75th annual Hunger Games. The quarter quell; the victors games; the bane of her existence ― and the final (or what seemed to be...) ultimatum to her peace.

Warnings! This story contains recurrent themes and some graphic depictions of; violence, blood, murder, death, gore, torture, swearing and some sexual themes ― as well as PTSD, reactions to trauma ― and details that some people might find triggering.

Disclaimer! All credit goes to Suzanne Collins, and the Hunger Games franchise, other than Thalia's own plotline; my own original ideas within her games, and her backstory. I do not give my permission for this story to be re-written on this platform, or on any other platforms ― in this language, or in another language. I have eyes everywhere, I'll know if someone takes it <3

Authors note! First off, if you've come from my other story, Hi again! And if you're new, then welcome! I hope you enjoy this! :) Second, I know that originally Annie Cresta's games were the 70th, but for the sake of the plot I spent months writing ― my sanity ― and a couple other things, such as my both love and hatred for the arena (because, little rant break― that arena had so much potential, and It was wasted on blandness!)

That's not to say she doesn't exist, she does ― and there are a couple of mentions of her ― but she's a few years older than Thalia, so there's not much to say about her.

There's no way you have to read this story ― I write in light mode ― but all the little graphics should hopefully be transparent, so it's not an issue; do whatever you want!
