"You're really not coming, are you?" I shook my head. "I'm not coming, no. But I'll watch it." "That's bullshit. Being at the track is much more exciting." "I didn't really want to watch it, Lando," I said with a smile. "Yeah, but I kind of don't understand it. There you have the opportunity and you don't take it," he muttered, looking offended. "Discussion is unnecessary, babe," I laughed, turning on the TV. "See? The TV is on and I can watch the whole race." "You just called me babe?" Irritated, the Brit looked at me and then I noticed it too. I cleared my throat sheepishly and blushed, which I've been getting quite a lot of lately. "Well... um... I always call my friends... well close friends differently... I like to give nicknames," I mumbled stuttering. "Sorry, won't happen again." "No, it's fine. I was just a little surprised," he laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head in embarrassment. "What else do you have as a nickname?" he then asked, full of curiosity. In a moment I turned even redder. "You'll find out yourself," I muttered, holding my hands in front of my face. "Oh yeah?" I nodded slowly. "Don't you have to go so slowly?" I looked back up at him. "You're right. Last chance, are you coming or not?" "Nope. But good luck." Lando rose from my bed. "Thanks. If you don't watch the race, I'm not talking to you anymore!" he then threatened, amused. "Oh God. How wonderful," I pretended to be relieved and went after Lando in my sleeping clothes and bare feet. I wanted to accompany him downstairs because I was sure to meet Carlos there and he deserved to be wished luck. I didn't really care how I looked at the moment. I had done my hair and brushed my teeth, that was enough for now. Especially when I was about to go back to bed.

As I had planned, I wished Carlos good luck and that he should have fun, just like Lando again. After the team, including Cara, had driven, I dawdled back to my room and sat down in front of the small TV that I had just left on. The race wouldn't start for another two hours, so I decided to take a shower first. To be honest, it was much too early to be awake now. It was only five o'clock in England and I was awake. Nonsensical.

The water splashed warmly on my tense shoulders and relaxed my muscles. I heaved a sigh of relief and let my thoughts run free. Shower thoughts. I had to stifle a yawn as a more than silly thought occurred to me. When I yawn, do deaf people think I scream? I had to laugh at myself for a moment, but still thought it wasn't such a stupid question.

After getting ready, I sat back on my bed with my laptop. I had been stuck on funny and stupid questions for so long that I only had an hour to kill. I spent it answering emails until everything was done there as well. And now? Maybe I could call Ellison again.

"Hey Hailey, what's up?" she called sleepily. "I'm watching the race." "What? My brain isn't working like that yet." "The Formula One race. I'm watching it." "So you're going to the track?" "No, but I'm watching it on the TV." "And why all of a sudden the turnaround?" "I had a pretty intense conversation about qualifying yesterday and realised how I actually missed it." "You Hailey. You'll be back in Germany by Tuesday at the latest. You'll tell me everything then, right?" "Sure. Sorry. I'm sure you have to get to class right away." "Yeah, I do. Love you. Write to me when you get there." "Love you, too, and I will." "Bye." "See ya." Okay, momentarily forgot that she wouldn't have time. Oops.

Finally the race started and I was gripped from the first moment. As if hypnotised, I sat in front of the TV, feverish. I regretted not wanting to go to the track, because that would have been indescribable. Just wonderful. How the cars flew over the track. I wanted to be there! Live and not sitting here! I quickly put the thought out of my mind. No, that wouldn't work. I couldn't go back.

Excitedly, I jumped around on the bed, nervously pulling the blanket apart again and again, only to let it go down again. It was the last rounds and they were exciting. Always. No matter how obvious it was who won. Valterri Bottas was the winner and Lewis Hamilton took the flag just behind him. Lando had slipped to twelfth place and Carlos had unfortunately retired after lap nine. Unfortunately, I hadn't heard what had happened, but I would just ask him in a moment. Neither of them had to go to the press conference and they would be back here in two hours at the latest. I was really excited and couldn't wait to finally see the boys again. Well, I didn't really care, but I wanted to talk about the race and they were the best choice.

Finally, after what felt like years of dying of boredom, I heard the redemptive knock. Delighted, I jumped off my bed and yanked open the door. Lando stood in front of it and smiled at me reservedly. Actually, Cara had written she would come, but she probably just sent Lando. "Hi nah," I greeted him happily. "Hey," came a little dejectedly from him. "I saw everything, but I didn't quite understand why Carlos dropped out. Can you explain it to me again?", I talked blithely, but didn't notice that Lando seemed a bit depressed. I sat down on the bed, pulling Lando with me. Only then did I notice that something was wrong. "What's wrong?", I asked him emotionally, eyeing him carefully. "I could have done better," he muttered. "The race?" He nodded. I bit my lower lip and unceremoniously pulled him into a hug. Firmly, I hugged him to me, not bothering with the physical contact I usually shied away from. "You actually have something to be happy about. You ran your first race and even finished it," I tried to cheer him up more badly than good. Carefully, I detached myself from him again and looked at him. "There's always a next race, remember." I smiled at him, which he returned and fished for the remote. "Do you actually have somewhere to go?" "No. I can stay as long as you can stand me," he joked. "Great." "But I'm tired," he then mumbled sleepily and yawned. I nodded understandingly and then added, "You can sleep if you want. I'll watch some TV." "Is that really okay?" I nodded quickly. "Sure. I'd hate to kick you out just for that." Lando yawned, putting his hand over his mouth. Sweet. "Can we go over to my place? I'd still like to change." "Yeah, sure." He rose, which I did the same. "Be right there." I quickly disappeared into the bathroom and changed into my sleeping clothes. I hurried over to Lando's, who had left the door ajar so he didn't seem to have to get up again. In the room, I closed the door behind me and crawled into bed with him. Lando was still on his mobile just then, but slid a little to the side to make room for me. "Set an alarm for five, if that's okay." "Sure." I picked up my phone myself while Lando put his on the bedside table. Discreetly, he carefully tried to slide over to me. I chuckled softly. "Is that how you need to cuddle?" "You hugged me first!" "Naww, come here then darling." Smirking, I patted my stomach briefly as a sign that he could snuggle up to me, which he even understood. Lando smiled tiredly and actually snuggled up to me. He had rested his head on my stomach and also had one arm around my waist. I didn't mind, I actually liked it. Unknowingly, I started to play with his hair with one hand while I was writing with Cara. But all the time I was asking myself the same question. How did this situation come about? And why did I like it so much?

Here it is. Lando barely made it into the top 5 xD I'm really proud of him. As always, actually.
