Jared punched the door to his home as soon as he closed it. Zeke didn't die, he was actually better. The love of his life was married to another man, his chance with her had passed. He should have fought harder for her.
Jared threw his keys to the ground and sank down to the floor with his back against the door, tears streaming down his face. After a minute he slapped himself and wiped his tears.
"I can't accept this. I won't accept this," he said aloud to himself.
He had a plan, a plan to make her realize her mistake and realize he was the one she loved. He would see her at work, and he would make sure to stay close with her family. She wouldn't be able to get away from him. He would spend a lot of time with her and take care of her in a "friendly" way, all platonic of course, or at least that's what he'd lead her to believe until she was back in his arms.
