chapter 13

Hajime's pov

I stare at the wall. Izuru and Nagito just left. So they think Shuichi was kidnapped by serial killer b? I can honestly believe it. It's like for some reason I feel like killer b is not a unknown guy. Like I know him, but yet I don't.
   I sigh. Another question is why dump Shuichi in the dumpsters instead of keeping him  or killing him? He has had no trouble killing kids before. I shake my head, the more I think about it, the more questions I get.
   "Your awake." I look up at the sound
Shuichi and kokichi walk into the room.
"Hey," I smile
"Good to see your better." Shuichi says
"Yeah." I nod
"We need to talk." Kokichi says
I tilt my head "about what?"
"My sister has been talking to Izuru, Makoto and Nagito and  I overheard something about what happened. The moment they saw me they stopped talking about it." Shuichi says
Kokichi nods "they won't talk to me either."
I shake my head "they haven't said a word to me."
Shuichi and kokichi look at each other clearly looking lost.
"But I did overhear something really interesting." I say
"Well? What was it?" Kokichi asks
"Well I didn't hear much but they believe that serial killer b is Shuichi's kidnapper and that there could have been deaths." I explain
"If that's the case then why didn't he just kill me? Why go through the trouble of dumping me in the dumpsters alive?" Shuichi asks
"He has killed younger kids before he kidnapped Shuichi." Kokichi mumbled
I nod "that means that it might not be killer b who kidnapped Shuichi."
Kokichi tilted his head "then who did. None of the older kids are going to talk to us or tell us anything."
"I'm also a detective and for some reason I can't even investigate this." Shuichi said
"How about we do it ourselves." I say slowly
They look at me
"Whatdya mean?" Kokichi asks
"Why don't we investigate but we don't tell them. We don't even have to tell them what we find " I say
The thought of forming a little investigation team was thrilling.
"It could be dangerous." Shuichi mumbled
"You do this everyday. Let's do it." Kokichi looked as excited as I feel
Eventually Shuichi nodded "alright. Where do we start?"
"The cafe'." I said

Nagito's pov

I knocked on the door leading to hajime's room.
"Come in."
I walk in to find that Shuichi and kokichi are already there. Shuichi had this little book in his hand that he quickly closed.
I wonder what that was. I shake my head slightly.
"What are you two doing?" I ask as I sit down
"Visiting a friend." Kokichi said
I nod "hey hajime how're you feeling?"
He smiles "better. Thanks for dropping by."
I feel the heat rush up to my face "u-uh yeah of course."
Kokichi whistles. I glare at him.
"Really?" Hajime looks at kokichi
He tilts his head "what?"
Shuichi shakes his head "wow. You two are so dense."
"Dense? How?" I ask
Shuichi doesn't answer but instead laughs. He then shares a glance with hajime and kokichi.
"Hey Nagito, did you ever find out about the guy who kidnapped me?" Shuichi asks
"No. Sorry." I shake my head. I hate lying but honestly, the three of them were still young and as kyoko said, we should let them live without having to worry about this. It was for the best anyways. This man was a brutal killer.
  Shuichi nods "thought so."
" Why do you want to know?" I ask
"W-well I just wanted to know if he was caught." He stammered
I narrowed my eyes. I had a sneaking suspicion that he was lying.
"Anyways, chocolate anyone? Gonta brought them for me." Hajime said, changing the subject.
"Sure."

I met up with kyoko, Makoto and izuru. Originally I had planned to tell them about how hajime was doing but I ended up telling them everything.
"Shuichi uses that notebook to keep notes and facts. Only about cases too." Kyoko said
"You don't think they want to help?" Makoto asks
"Of course they'll want to help.  They went through it after all." Izuru pointed out
I nod "he also asked if we found anything out. I have a feeling they're also trying to get information."
"This is a lot more dangerous then any other case Shuichi has solved, where there were police officers there to make sure he was safe. This time they'll be on there own." Kyoko said
"They aren't stupid enough to take action on arresting the guy but they are smart enough find things out we can't." Makoto said
Izuru nods
"So what now?" I tilt my head
The thought of hajime getting hurt again, I couldn't even think about it.
"What can we do? Nothing for now." Kyoko said
"Alright, let's hope everything goes as smoothly as we hope it will." Izuru said
We all left the cafeteria with the same grim Expressions.

??? Pov

I looked up at the darkening sky. Smiling I look back down at her. She was tied up and gagged so I didn't have to worry about her screaming. Naomi hills.
  She looked at me with the utmost fear. That was the expression I was waiting for. I leaned down.
"Thank you and now, goodbye." I slit her throat.
She would have gotten in the way. I smile as I walk down the street. This is a lot more fun then I thought.
