"I've gathered you all here today because something has happened which affects everyone." Principal Weaver was glancing at the students, trying to remember their faces. Not all of them would be alive for much longer. He pressed his lips together, sighed, then continued. The leaders of each kind started to line the edges of the room. Tristan recognized Josh, holding tightly to his fiancé.

"Lycans," he said, looking at one group of students. "Vampires," he said looking towards another. "Elves and fairies. Everyone of you have lived here for longer than the humans that live here now." He gulped. "But we face an enemy to which no one can imagine."

"What are you talking about?" A young boy interrupted. Weaver growled, silencing him at once.

"There have been rumors of a nymph in the forests." He said, many students nodded in agreement. Tristan's arm wrapped tighter around Sam, sensing her nervousness. "Some believe it is Sam here, I can promise you that this is not true. As many know, yesterday I was called away and I only recently returned. I had taken Sam to see a seer, I know it is frowned upon to take a human to her, but this was a special occasion. The seer confirmed my beliefs that Sam is not a nymph. She is human I assure you, bonded to Tristan so no one get any ideas." He eyed the fairies, they were known to mess with the humans. Making them dance and sing until their death in the underground.

"She warned me of what is to come. I cannot tell you exactly what it is, however it is something that controls the humans into killing our kinds." Weaver explained. The room erupted into thunderous outcry. The men and women who ruled over the races growled warnings to the students. But it was Luke, who had up until then remained unseen, who silenced the students with a thunderous growl.

"Enough!" He roared. Even among the others Luke was a man who commanded respect. All recognized the power of the old King, and a few knew what wrath he was truly capable of. Silence fell quickly, allowing Weaver to continue.

"We cannot evacuate, as we cannot make the humans leave either. Shortly everyone will be divided into groups of five." He said. Everyone looked around. There was only enough to make groups of four, if that. "We equal the humans in number, so each group will contain one lycan, one vampire, one fairy, one elf, and one human." A few small groups began to chatter again, receiving a warning from their leader.

"Should the human in your group display odd behavior such as the one named Jake had," he continued. "You are to send them to the nurse immediately, staying in your group. Anonymity is key. Do not allow them to know that you are watching them. Do not expose ourselves to them."

Everyone glanced at each other. This task was monumental and nearly impossible to ask. They looked once again to Weaver.

"This will contain the problem at the school while a small task force deals with the humans outside of the school." He explained, everyone nodded, understanding now. Weaver sighed, looking at his feet before glancing back at the crowd in front of them.

"We believe that the actions of Jake Rogers, Mark Mayan, Logan Masters, Matt Parker and Tyler Evans unleashed a curse on this land. As you know, three of them are like us. We believe this is why they target us. Your leaders will come by each group, assigning everyone a number," the adults started making their way around everyone. "We will announce the number once everyone has one, and those that have it will come to the front to the king, queen, regent... and so forth that has the matching number."

As everyone got their cards, Tristan noticed that he and Sam were left out. Sam was twiddling her thumbs as his arm was protectively around her.

"Why is this happening?" She whispered.

"I don't know." He replied, pressing his head against her temple. "But I'll keep you safe."

As the students gradually left their places, Tristan noticed the groups consisted of people who all had the same classes together. Weaver always liked simple schedules, which is why Tristan shared most of his day with Sam. To his surprise, the two weren't the only ones left out of the mix. Mark Mayan and Matt Parker were also left alone, their grief for their lost friend was evident. Sam smirked as she enjoyed their sorrow, Tristan eyed her warily.

"Why are you smiling?" He asked her.

"The seer said that their deaths were punishment for their crimes." She shook her head. "I'm not happy they're dead, but I can't feel remorse. Those guys were horrible to everyone at school, and caused so much destruction." Tristan hated it, but he agreed.

Those five boys terrorized the girls and boys at school, making their lives a living hell. Although indirectly, they had caused many of their victims to kill themselves or drown in sorrow. He sighed, closing his eyes and inhaling her scent. He knew this moment of peace would not last.

He also knew that the efforts were an attempt to try and keep the kids calm. He knew it wouldn't matter, change is evident.
