"Why is Gally singing to himself?" Thomas asked Newt all of a sudden.

Newt sighed, turning to face the bonfire where Gally stood next to Frypan, "Him and his girlfriend used to constantly sing it together."

"I thought you said there aren't any girls in the Glade?" Thomas questioned, staring intensely at the blond.

"There aren't," He mumbled, turning back to look at the large maze walls.

"What happened?" Thomas asked after a long silence.

Newt debated with himself whether he should tell the new greenie, eventually deciding it would be easier than to constantly be asked over and over again.

"She was a runner," Newt started, taking a drink of Gally's concoction, "She and Minho were out in the maze one time and she got injured, didn't tell Minho right until the end though. The doors were closing and Minho was just able to get through, but she collapsed before the doors shut, probably hurt her leg."

There was a long, tense silence before Thomas spoke up, "Did anyone look for her?"

"Minho and Ben left as soon as they could the next day," Newt answered, "They were out all day, probably didn't even take a break. When they came back, they said they didn't find a single piece of evidence of her ever even existing out there."

"I'm sorry," Thomas muttered.

"It's not a problem, greenie," Newt shook his head, "It hit Gally and Minho the hardest, though, so don't mention her around them. She was Minho's best friend, they were like siblings, and Gally loves her more than anything."
