"I told you that I'd help you make at least one friend," Kingsley said at school during lunch. "To do so, you can't just stay alone all by yourself. If people won't approach you, you need to approach them,"

"And I told you that I'm fine with being alone once you guys leave," Alice responded as she ate her lunch.

"Let's start off by listing down your likes and interests," Kingsley took out a piece of folder paper. 

"No thank you," Alice politely declined. "I think I'd rather enjoy my lunch in peace instead of interacting with schoolmates,"

"Being alone is painful," Kingsley said. "You act like it doesn't bother you at all, but I can tell you feel at least a little sad. You're not even close enough with your staff to be honest with them about your dislike of the violin. You have no one to turn to if you're in trouble,"

"Why do you care so much?" Alice asked. 

"Because I don't feel good when I see you sad," Kingsley admitted. "It makes my chest feel all heavy and painful. When I see you happy, it makes my chest warm,"

"Does this count as Kingsley confessing his love to Alice?" Jake spoke up, reminding the two that they were not alone at the cafeteria table.

"No," Donald answered. "He needs to saying those three words first,"

"I am not in love with Alice," Kingsley sent an annoyed glare at Donald and Jake. 

"We've literally only known each other for about two weeks now," Alice added. 

"People using online dating apps and websites go on dates with random strangers," Donald pointed out.

"Ignore Donald," Kingsley said, causing Donald to be offended. "Alice, you like reading Weak Hero, right? Since that's the world we're from?"

"Yes," Alice nodded as she stood up to throw away her trash. 

"Why not find someone in school who also reads Weak Hero?" Kingsley suggested. "Or just someone who reads Webtoons in general?"

"Because, as I said before, everyone already has their friend groups," Alice reminded. "I don't want to randomly intrude into another person's social circle,"

"You're being stubborn," Kingsley frowned. "Then how about this: I'll be your best friend the entire time that we're here,"

"Boyfriend," Jake fake coughed loudly.

"Husband," Donald corrected in the same fake cough manner.

"Fine," Alice agreed. "If being my best friend is what you want to waste your time here doing, then so be it,"

"Hey," Donald looked around, noticing that someone was missing. "Where's Forrest?"

"He got kidnapped by the basketball team," Jake answered casually. "He'll be back by the end of lunch,"

"We've all got the basic notes and chords down," Wolf said at the end of the practice session, still upset that he was roped into a band against his will. "So what songs are we gonna play?" 'Better not be something shitty,'

"One of the songs is After Dark by Asian Kung-Fu Generation," Alice suggested. "I can play it so you can get a hang of the melody and vibe. I will be using Mr. Goatee's English lyrics,"

"That'd be great," Donald nodded.

Kingsley handed his guitar to Alice, who accepted it. She took a deep breath and began to play. "So I'm under cover now. I'm taking my shot to run away, keeping low."

'She's a really good singer,' Kingsley couldn't help but smile.

"Try to lift off the ground, but I feel the wings fall off of me. Broke them off,"

Alice's eyes were a bit glossy, as if playing the guitar put her in the same trance that she had been in while playing the violin. 

"A sweet aroma I've gotten used to. I feel it all around. Suddenly a familiar voice begins crying out,"

'She's having fun,' Kingsley noted. 'She really enjoys playing the guitar,'

"All that's left of hope and power. Might keep on and fly again. But how long will it carry on?"

'Even though she's not smiling,' Kingsley thought. 'I can tell that she's happy right now. Seeing her like this makes my chest feel lighter and warm,'

"Start to walk a lonely journey. Saving all that I got left. Soon the world will swallow it all up,"

Jake was struggling to resist the urge to squeal loudly. Not only was this song the opening of an anime, but the way Kingsley was staring at Alice was fuel for the KingAlice ship!

"I may not ever wake up if all I know is giving up. 'Cuz all I need is to say 'hey, I need to win',"

Alice finished the song and looked to her audience, but ended up making eye contact with Kingsley. Kingsley's smile caused Alice's own lips to twitch into a small smile.

Donald took a photo of the two smiling at each other with his cell phone. "While you can personally show Kingsley how to play each part of the song," He spoke up. "The rest of us would need the lyrics and the music sheets,"

"I'll have Reginald print out copies for everyone once we get home," Alice informed. "Once you all have gotten the hang of After Dark, I'll introduce the next song,"

Since the practice session was technically over, everyone split up to do whatever the hell they wanted to, leaving Kingsley and Alice alone in the practice room.

"It's been less than a month since I started teaching you the guitar," Kingsley said. "You played that song perfectly,"

Alice shook her head. "I was too slow," 

Kingsley placed a hand on her shoulder. "Still, that was a great performance,"

Alice smiled at the compliment. "Thanks,"

"So what are we going to do until dinnertime?" Kingsley inquired. 

"I told you that you don't have to stay with me," Alice reminded. "Go have fun like the others are doing,"

"And I told you that I'm your best friend," Kingsley pointed out. "I'm choosing to stay with you. I'm enjoying just being by your side right now,"

Kingsley's words made Alice smile even wider, even if it was only just by a little bit.
