IT wasn't that long ago

IT wasn't that long ago. When Allia was still young and reckless, when she was so confident in her own skills that her every actions were dripping with arrogance.

Of course, that arrogance was supported by obvious evidence of her god like strength, and her last name. (As she grew older, though, she learned to tone it down and simply show her skills when it was needed)

That was when she met Chrollo, a young handsome boy with skills inferior to her's, but still greater than most. They were good enough to impress her grandfather, and her father.

After all, to be able to steal other's nen powers and store them in a book? That was interesting even to Allia. And just like her, this boy was confident. It irritated her slightly, annoyed by his cocky and relaxed walk, and the boyish, curious way he spoke. His confidence was different from her's.

While Allia's stemmed from power, leading to her powerful aura and way she held herself, Chrollo's was more like a hidden lining of arrogance. While Allia didn't conceal her disdain for weak people, Chrollo hid his mockery and smugness, instead covering it with modesty and silence. He barely spoke, unless he deemed it of importance, (which also irritated the young Zoldyck, considering how different their views on importance were). And the boyish tone he used...

"Which one of us will win, do you think, if we fought each other?" The black haired boy wondered, sitting on half of a huge boulder.

"I would." Allia answered bluntly. "What are you doing here? Don't you have a little band of jolly kids to lead?"

Chrollo only smiled, ignoring the jab at his newly formed gang, (that he liked to call a criminal organization, it felt firmer) the Phantom Troupe. He was quite proud of the members he had recruited from his hell like birth place, Meteor City. Each of them were familiar with the feeling of abandonment, and together they were like a merry little group of murderers, thieves, and criminals. Truly, a family.

"Anyway. Illumi says he's interested in one of your members- Feitan, I think his name was."

The younger boy raised an eyebrow. The short, spiky black haired, moody one? Although admittedly, his nen ability was of high level, irreplaceable, and unique, there was no one who would usually be interested in a child from Meteor City.

"Why?"

"Something about a peculiar mystery of lineage, and a fascinating similarity to mother's nen ability." Allia looked up from where she was skipping stones across a pond, (although Chrollo wouldn't really call it skipping stones, it was more like creating miniature tsunami's by throwing a rock with the force of murder). "Interpret how you will."

"Are you allowed to tell me this? Isn't this classified Zoldyck info?" Chrollo asked, a rising feeling of flattery and warm happiness in his chest as he shifted on his spot.

"It's not really classified, Illumi said he wouldn't really act on his interest yet anyway. Although..." The aura around Allia suddenly darkened considerably, and the young boy almost whipped out his skill book, Bandit's Secret. "If you speak even a word about this to Feitan, forget Illumi, I'll rip out your limbs one by one and hang them from the chandelier like fucking decorations." And with Chrollo's nod, her glare disappeared entirely, and she went right back to skipping stones.

Of course, thinking of that time now, Allia always smiled at how immature she was, throwing around threats as if they were the small knives she stole from her grandfather.
