I like this quote but honestly this is incorrect in many different situations. For example, somebody could carry on your progress. However, some could argue that the quote includes carrying on others' works, so you might just carry it on forever which goes against the quotes ideology.

In addition, some may also argue that you can always improve on things, therefore this quote would always be incorrect as you can never truly finish something.

It really depends on your perspective. This quote was taken out of a rather minor situation, such as "Do not start a paragraph if you cannot finish it". 

Sorry, I kind of rambled on there didn't I? Oh, what can I say, I like writing.
