Three years ago,

The palace already made Sai feel lost and insignificant.It had been one and half years since she had left her husband and his family not able to put up with their abuses anymore. She had left the whole place altogether with her usha mausi so that she can never cross paths with him or the chauvan family even by mistake. Her college principal was kind enough to get her a transfer to another branch of her college understanding her situation and had assured her that no one will get to know about it. So sai had disappeared without bidding farewell even to her close friends afraid that would weaken her resolve to get away from everything. She and usha mausi had rented a small room with their savings and tried to cope up with their life. Sai joined the new college and still excelled at her studies. She had soon become most of the professor's favorite because of her hardworking nature but she had changed, she no longer mingled with anyone, avoided everyone. Her chirpy nature had vanished and for her relief her classmates thinking her aloofness as her arrogance stayed away from her. Her last year in the medical college passed away silently, she passed out as a topper and joined her residency training in the Shergil hospital which offered her stipend amount also.  Everything was normal until her savings had gotten over and she realized that she did not have money for paying the rent of the small room also. The stipend amount had never been enough and she had sold all her jewellery already to meet some expenses. She had not said usha mausi about it either. One of the senior doctor had guessed her financial problems and given her a solution, the Shergill family's eldest daughter in law was still recovering from the recent attack, she was recently shifted to the palace from the hospital and the family had wanted some good doctor to examine her recovery properly though it was not needed but they were offering huge amount for such small work and the senior doctor offered to recommend sai if she was ready, sai did not hesitate to accept the offer thanking the doctor . This can put her residency for hold but she did not have much of a choice either. Two days later, sai recieved the news that she can join the palace as soon as possible, she has to stay in the palace still the patient is fully recovered and also her stay and food arrangements will be looked after by the Royal family itself. Convicing a worried usha mausi ,sai had come to the palace with her appointment letter which would give her entrance inside the palace.
" memsahib " the servant's voice shakes her out of her thoughts. She follows the servant who is guiding her to her room silently trying not to make noise. She lowers her head down follows the footsteps and does not notice the tall lean figure walking towards her, and she bumps into him. She almost loses her balance when he holds her from falling down and she looked up at him. He was handsome sai notices but she brushes it off she had seen how coward the most handsome faces can be. She had learnt her lesson in a very harsh way.
" are you alright? " he asks her softly while making her stand and withdrawing his hand from hers.
" thanks " she mumbled to him and nods her head.
" chote humkum sa, yeh doctor sahiba hai " the servant bows in front of the man. The man acknowledges the servant as he nods curtly at him and turns his attention to the pretty woman standing in front of him.
" you're here to examine swadheeta bhabhi's recovery, hi I'm vikram Shergill the youngest Prince of this palace " he extends his hand towards her putting up a smile on his face.
Sai looked at him nervous for a moment , " dr sai joshi " she reluctantly shakes his hand and pulls it off after a moment.
" I think I should go now " she says to him and asks the servant to show her room who obeys her after bowing once more before vikram and leaving with sai.
Vikram still stood here looking at her retearing figure. For some reason he felt dangerously drawn towards her, it had never happened before. She was so hesitant to even to shake hands with him and here he is already intrigued by her. It felt so foolish.
" vikram " his brother's voice pulled him out of his thoughts. He brushes off his thoughts about her and rushes towards his brother.

The next chapters will explore how sai and vikram fell in love and got married. There will be mentions about virat and chauvans but they will not be present.
