Two Months later:
The past two months have been a whirlwind. Between meeting with stylists, recording songs, listening to songs that were offered to me, and writing, I haven't had time to do a whole lot of anything. To say I’m exhausted is an understatement.
By the time I get home, I'm dead on my feet which doesn't leave me much time to spend with Brinleigh. And the time that we do get together, usually ends up with us fighting. In fact, she and I had a huge argument last week because I had missed the doctors appoint that was to find out the sex of the twins. She was so mad that she hasn't told me what they are.
The day of the appointment, I had told Seth that I needed to take a break at lunch so that I could make her appointment. But we got so caught up in recording and writing, that we both lost track of time. When we finally took a break to eat, it was nearly 9:00 at night. I remember checking my phone and a feeling of dread washing over me. There were messages that asked if I was okay that were full of concern There were messages where she was pissed and cussing like a sailor. But then there was the most dreaded one of them all… the one from Momma. It had taken me two full days to muster up the courage to call her. And when I did, when I tell you that she was pissed, I mean she was madder at me than I ever remember her being. I'm pretty sure if she could have gotten her hands on me, my ass would have black and blue from her paddle and I would probably have no ears.“Man, when are you gonna man up and apologize to her for missing that appointment?” said Chad as she sat down on the opposite end of the couch, handing me a beer. Since it was the week of Thanksgiving, we weren't in the studio. Chad, Brinleigh and I were all supposed to be heading to Momma’s tomorrow. Needless to say, with her not speaking to me it was sure to be one hellaciously miserable ride.
“I have man. Over and over again. She just doesn't accept my apology. No matter h0w much I say it or how much feeling I put into it. Hell, last night when I apologized for like the millionth time and begged her to talk to me, she kicked me out of the bedroom and slid a chair in front of the door so that I couldn't get back in.” I explained as I stood to stretch my sore back. Sleeping on the couch was going to kill me if Brinleigh shutting me out didn't do it first.
“Look man, I’m not making excuses for her by any means, but she's pregnant… With twins. Her hormones are all over the place. But it's not just you that she's taking it out on. This morning, she threw her tea cup at my head because I said good morning..” said Chad, leaning back on the couch and crossing his arms over his chest. “But if I’m being real honest Chase, this had more to do with her family and all than it does with you missing that appointment.”
“Shit!” I yelled, running my fingers through my hair and tugging at the roots. I hadn't even thought about how hard the holidays would be for her after her fight with her Uncle. As much as she wanted to claim that it didn't bother her that he hadn't even tried to reach out, I knew she was lying. He had been the only family that she had left that would speak to her. “Dammit, how the hell do I fix this bruh? I mean she wont fucking talk to me.”
“Chase, I can't tell you what to do but you have got to make it up to her somehow. That girl is hurting, man. And she needs you whether her stubborn ass will admit it or not.” Said Chad. “I'm going out for a while. Talk to her man. Beg and plead if you have to. Just make sure you get it done tonight because I’m not looking forward to driving back to Charlotte in the morning with her gouchy ass.”
“Alright.” I said with a sigh.

After Chad left, I walked to what is Brinleigh and I’s bedroom and knocked. I could hear her moving around the room but she chose to ignore the fact I was standing at the door. And it was majorly pissing me off. Without even thinking, I drew my leg back and kicked just below the knob. Wood splinters floated through the air as the door flew open. On the other side of the door, Brinleigh was seething.
