25 : Contact

Pieck asked me to tell her about Yelena. I took some time to think about my answer. 

"As you know, she's the one who trapped you, on that night. I'm not sure of what I could tell you about her. I spent three years, seeing her almost everyday, but she's quite the mysterious woman. I had to act like a fanatic when I was around us, and that's how I developped the certainty that she's one too. She wouldn't have trusted me otherwise. She told me shehad been saved by Zeke and that's when started following him. She told me how she built a team of Volunteers, getting rid of everyone that stood in their way. She was ruthless with Marleyans in the past, but she's the one who convinced our government to give them rights on the island. She only revealed Zeke's real plan to me a few months ago. At this time, Eren had already disappeared for Marley but she already told me she had a conversation with him. They needed to execute the plan as soon as possible."

"Why ?" the young woman asked me. 

"I'm not exactly sure," I admitted, "I didn't ask. But I think it's because of the time left for Zeke. I think he still has a year or so now, so time's running out if he wants his plan to go on."

"But Eren could unleash his anytime, couldn't he ? As long as he has a Titan with royal blood."

"Not if Paradis is facing an immediate threat," I reminded her. "It explains why they're acting so quickly. For now, he's probably still locked up, but I don't think he will stay there for long..."

We were alreayd leaving for Paradis, where I could help them infiltrate the Walls. Then, our squad would wait for its moment. Officially, Reiner was the lead of the group, but I was the one giving the orders, that I hid behind suggestions to not sound too assertive. I had barely gained their trust, I couldn't afford to make a wrong move. Porco was the easiest to annoy. 

We knew our targets were somewhere inside the Walls, but I didn't know where Levi was keeping Zeke and we quickly learned that Eren had escaped his cell the day before. I rolled my eyes when I heard it. I had anticipated something like that. I was hoping Levi knew about it to keep Zeke wherever they were for as long as possible. 

 Master of discretion, I got hold of Scout Regiment's uniforms at Pieck and Porco's size. I told them to infiltrate a group of soldiers, Jaegerists, as they called themselves. I was hidden elsewhere. Colt Grice was searching for the children. 

Had I really planned everything ? Clearly not. I had a lot of theories but they could all be false. I hoped Pieck and Porco could learn about Eren's location from his followers but it was almost too easy. I had also advised them to go look in Krolva district, where my parents' restaurant was. Of course, it was just one of my many theories, but there was many Marleyans there, Yelena's Volunteers, so I thought we would find them easily by going there. Unthankfully, my squad from the Scout Regiment was also there, so I had to keep a low profile when they were close. I couldn't join them yet, but the time was close. I thought that once I accomplished my duty, I would surrender. Even though, to be honest, I didn't really know when this would all end. 

I had gotten my gear back for the occasion. I was hiding it under a long coat, way too hot for me to wear it under such sweet weather, but it was better than being spotted. 

My suspicions were proven right when we saw the Jaegerists entering the restaurant after them with Eren. I descretely signalled to my allies that it wasn't time to act yet. In this place, we would make casualties among the civilians, and I didn't want my parents' restaurant to be damaged. 

We followed the Jaegerists as far as we could, Porco and Pieck still infiltrated in their ranks. It lead us to Shiganshina. Where everything began, and thankfully, it was an exit gate, an escape route, once we would have found what we were looking for.
