Fight x Together

My eyelids flutter open, seeing Kurapika still asleep next to me. It was only 8am, but I decided to get out of bed. I get ready for the day, and by the time I was finished, Kurapika was awake.

"Did you sleep okay?" I ask. He nods, sitting upright while rubbing his eyes. 

He gets up to take a shower, while I wait for him. We go downstairs to the hotel café to get breakfast. 

"What do you plan on doing?" He asks, taking a sip of his coffee. 

"What do you mean?" 

"Like, does the rest of the Phantom Troupe know that you're not a spider anymore?" 

"No, of course not." 

"Right, so what do you plan on doing when they find out?" 

"Kill them, obviously."

"Are you sure you can do that by yourself?" 

"I'm not doing it by myself. Your goal is to kill every last spider, right? Why don't we do it together?" 

Kurapika opens his mouth to say something, then closes it again without a word. 

"Something wrong?" I say, popping a grape in my mouth.

"No, I just...didn't expect you to say that." 

"Do you not want me to fight the spiders with you?" 

"It's not that. I'm more than happy to fight them with you by my side." He gives me a soft smile, then looks down at his plate for a long moment. 

He looked bothered by something, but I couldn't tell what. 

"I'm just trying to stay out of their way for now. I've had enough fighting," I say, breaking the long silence.

"Yeah, you and I both." 

Kurapika and I finish eating breakfast, and Kurapika and I go out to walk around the city. We didn't really have much to do today, and Kurapika wasn't working. I asked him about his new job, but he didn't really give me an answer, so I didn't bother asking again.

We come to a large outdoor cafe. It was now almost 12pm, and it was pretty crowded. I notice a long-haired man sitting next to a pink haired girl. When I realized who it was, I immediately grabbed Kurapika to a corner so they don't notice us. 

"What was that fo--" 

I put my hand over Kurapika's mouth before he could finish his sentence. "You see those two?" I whisper, poking my head out from the corner a bit, subtly pointing to the two people. 

Kurapika nods. "What about them?" He whispers back. "That's Machi and Nobunaga. Phantom troupe members 1 and 3," I explain. 

I noticed Kurapika's chains were out as soon as I said that. "Kurapika, don't do anything stupi--" 

"Y/N." Kurapika grabs onto both my shoulders, cutting me off. "I'm sorry for not saying this earlier, but my goal is something I want to do on my own. I don't need your help for this." 

I was confused, but also upset. He said he was happy to have me fight by his side, so why is he saying this now?  

I turn around to make sure Machi and Nobunaga hadn't noticed us. But when I looked to check, they weren't there anymore. I turn back around to Kurapika. He was gone too.
