Chapter 22 : Finally happy

I woke up and got ready quickly storming out of my house without breakfast. I didn't want to risk seeing Lucy or my dad this morning.

I walk to school and obviously i'm earlier then normal.

I see Marcus walking down the hallway but as soon as he makes eye contact with me, i see he has a black eye.
He drops it and walks past me without a word.

Miles. Who else would it be.

I go to the library and listen to some music.

I rest my head on the desk in front of me. I could literately fall asleep right now. I barely got sleep last night. I slept like 3 or 4 hours.
I couldn't stop thinking about Lucy.
She obviously isn't the right person to be with but my father is happy with her and i don't wanna ruin that.

I am almost asleep when someone taps at my shoulder. My eyes snap open and i hear the chair next to me crack on the floor. I lift my head up and look at the person. It suprises me a bit when i see it's Miles. He smiles at me but i give him a confused look. I turn on my phone to look at the time and he is definitely earlier too.

"You're early." I say and he chuckles.
"I can say the same from you."
"Noah was annoying me at home so i just when off without him." I laughed at that. "How typical."

"Why are you here early?" I sight and look at him.
"I don't want to lie but i'm way to tired too explain everything correctly so if you don't understand what i'm saying you can tell me to stop."
"Okay deal." He chuckles.

"My dad came home yesterday with his girlfriend that i didn't know he had. Apperently they have been seeing each other a month or something and know she moved in. Know the problem is that first of all i think it's a big step for her to move in and second she hates me. She acts all innocent and nice in front of my dad but when he's gone she changes into a bull. So shortly said i know live with a dad that is in love with someone i don't like and obviously the bull herself." I say very quickly not thinking twice about what i am saying.

Miles lookes shocked and confused.
"I understand all of it but wow. How much can happen in one day." He mumbles.
"An evening. One evening." i correct him.

"What did you tell your father?"
"I told him i was happy for them."
"You lied."
"Ofcourse, what was i supposed to say? Dad i don't like your girlfriend."
"If it's the truth then yes."
"It's not that easy Miles." I snap and he shuts up.

I focuse my eyes on the table while i'm
Messing with my hands. I can feel him staring at me.

"He's happy. I haven't seen him this happy in a while. He has now what he had with my mom and even though i hate the idea, i want to see my dad happy." I tell him truthfully.
He looks at me, observing me.
"Even if it makes you unhappy?"
"I'm not unhappy."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
He nodded and changed into an other question.

"Why don't you like her?"
"Because she is rude and cold." I answer honestly.
"Okay and what did she do or something?"
"She just told me stuff okay, Miles."
He kept shut again. I think he understands know i don't want to talk about what she said.

When i looked at his face, he was staring at the table. I feel a bit guilty now, i mean he was just curious.
I sight.

"I think i just feel a bit overwhelmed at the moment. I just feel like he is trying to replace mom and he expects me to do the same. She is literately my step-mom when i don't want to be anywhere near her."
He just watches me the whole time i'm speaking.

"Nobody can replace your mom, even if you dad tried to, it would never work."
I looked into his eyes and suddenly i felt a lot better. For some reason his little statement comforted me.

"Thanks for Marcus by the way." He smiled in return. "I was struggling not to put him in the ground." He said making me laugh.

Lira and Noah come walking in at that time and sit in front of us.
"Why the heck are you so early?" Noah asked. I take a deep breath and start telling them what i told Miles. They're facial expressions change fast during my story.

"So you live with a evil queen, or should i say step-mom." Noah said makign me nod. Step-mom! Ugh i really hate that word. "But have you told your dad how you feel about her? Or about what she said?" Lira asked.
"Actually what did she tell you?" All three of them were studying me closely and i don't like the attention that much.

"It doesn't matter what she said to me. I don't like her and i want her out of my house as soon as possible. But even if i tried to talk to my dad, he is to in love with this woman. He won't believe me." Kaya snapped. Lira looked a bit in shock and very confused. She probably knows Kaya's dad well enough to know he is, and to think he now has a new girlfriend is shocking.

"I still think you should talk to your dad. There's no reason why he shouldn't believe you. It's not like you would lie about such a thing." Noah said. "Yes, but i don't want to ruin it. He looks finally happy. Happier then i have seen him in a long time." Kaya looked down at the table not meeting any of our eyes.

"Kaya, if you just talk to him i'm sure he will choose you over a woman he just met." I said finaly getting something out.

The bell rang and Lira immediately jumped of the chair. I don't know what she has been i guess she's always been a bit weird.

"You coming?" Lira asked looking at Kaya. We were all already standing when she asked this. Except Kaya, she was still sitting on the chair looking at her hands. "You can go already i'll be there soon. I'm going to the bathroom first." She said while standing up and walking away.

"I feel really bad." Lira mumbled outloud. We started walking to class and we didn't say much. I don't understand though.

What could she possibly have said to Kaya that made her this upset. Kaya said it didn't matter what she said but it was a lie. I think she forget demons can tell the truth. I'm sure Noah picked it up too since he didn't ask farther as he normaly would.

We went to sit in our seats and the lesson began. About 2 minutes in Kaya came walking in. The rest of the day we kept talking about Kaya and her dad until she suddenly changed the subject to Lira and Noah's relationship.

Walking home i can't stop thinking about her. I wanted to know what could possibly have upset her this much. And that wasn't the only thing on my mind. The almost kiss friday night was also still stuck in my mind. I don't know what it was and i was planning on talking to her about it but after she told the whole thing about her dad i totally forget i was even going to ask her about it.

"Are you thinking of her?" Noah said snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Huh, who?" I try to play dumb maybe he'll drop the subject.
"Kaya, are you thinking of her?"

Fuck.

"Ofcourse not." i snapped but it only made Noah burst out laughing.
"Miles i know you're lying you buffoon." He said in between laughter. "Making no moves brother?" He mocked me still laughing so hard he grips his stomach.

"Shut up you fish face." I walked faster taking way more speed then him and far behind me i could still hear his laughter. Idiot.
