If I were Icarus, instead of wings, all I would make are poems about heaven

I can't help thinking you are the star
Where I am the winged thing
And I just don't know when to stop.

Not even after
The blinding, burning ball of light you are
Blesses the me in its path,
Becomes too unbearable to touch;

Still I will pine after you.

If I were Icarus, instead of wings,
all I would make are
poems about heaven, hell, and never knowing the difference
