Hi! How is everyone? (Sorry this is long, skip if you'd like)

As you guys probably know, I have a very cartoony art style (which honestly isn't very consistent and easy to remember) which I've been trying out for a while, but looking at some artists work that I REALLY liked I wanna try a more realistic style but not too realistic. Do you get what I mean?

I want the face structure similar to a normal humans face and not like....

SO! I got some art tips from ✨YOUTUBE✨ and I landed on this one video that I took an interest too. (It's above) if you want to watch it go ahead. If you don't that's okay because I'm here to summarize!

Basically what he said was—

*instantly forgets what the hell I was talking about*

ESSENTIALLY, he's saying that there's actually three basic parts to getting your own art style but never ever draw completely from your imagination because art styles are not just made up

ESSENTIALLY, he's saying that there's actually three basic parts to getting your own art style but never ever draw completely from your imagination because art styles are not just made up. No professional artist actually does that. An art style is numerous references and other art features (is features the right word?) incorporated into one art style with your own flair to it.

Now, the three parts of finding your own art style that you really like is Line, Shape, and Genre like here:

-Line: I chose Livibis because I love how they keep the second sketch clean and only barely visible. The only bold-ish lines I can see Livibis did were at the back of the neck and under the chin which I'm guessing it's because they get more shade, but even then it blends in well with the rest.

-Shapes: as you already know, I'm going for a less cartoony look and more realistic proportions and I think they did it real nicely.

Genre: pretty dreamy, I've noticed that in elentori's works, the background is almost always a darker shade but there's something illuminating the area that creates a light source.

After you have the three main parts you mix it all together to create—

Something...

Me trying it out will be next chapter! It's my favorite characters; riot and ruby

This chapter was literally just a breakdown of my future plans in art and some things I need to work on
