Season One, Episode Six: Patwa Island, Part One

Mono P.O.V: The Ocean around Patwa Island

Mono sighed as he stared off the railing of the Runaway. They were getting close to an island he had heard stories about. Patwa Island, a small island located in the middle of nowhere, was where kids were sent when they misbehaved. The name meant School, and the leader was only known as the Teacher. Seven had stated he had a friend that they needed to rescue from there, so it was their first stop. A noise behind him pulled Mono from his thoughts, and he turned around to see Six, her hood down. She had grown to trust him ever since he had opened up to her, but Seven had only gotten more insufferable. 

"Hey, Six. You need something?" Mono asks, a small smile on his face. 

"Just wondering if you're doing okay after your breakdown yesterday," Six says with a smile on her face, almost mimicking Mono. Mono nods. 

"Doing better. Thanks for the hug. I haven't had one of those in a while." Six's smile widens. Mono opens his arms, excepting the hug that she clearly wanted. Looking over her back, he spots Seven watching them from the wheel. He looked mad. Wonder why. 

Mono P.O.V: Patwa Island

Mono snuck through the jungle surrounding the large temple where the Teacher was said to reside. He didn't want a run-in with her. From the stories he had heard, they didn't usually end well. He wondered what kind of friend Seven was trying to rescue. Nobody good, if they had been sent here. Six's hand felt warm in his, and Mono pulled his cap down a bit to hide the blush on his face. Seven was leading the way. Mono could only guess how he knew the layout of the island so well. Suddenly, Seven's hand shoots up, signaling them to stop. 

"Bullies," Seven states under his breath, thinking nobody heard him. Mono's ears perk up at this, however. Bullies? That's what the students here are called? Why? Mono's ears pick up rustling behind them, and he instinctively ducks, pulling Six down with him. A kid flies over their heads, striking Seven in the back. Seven cries out in pain. (Sorry, I'm horrible at action scenes.) Mono quickly unsheathes his sword, pushing Six's back against a tree so that they don't get ambushed. The kid begins to punch and kick Seven, much like a bully would. Two more advances towards them. Mono raises his sword, keeping Six behind him. The first kid rushes, and Mono swings at his legs. The sound of glass breaking echoes across the jungle, Mono watching in horror as the kid's head explodes into shards of porcelain. Magical properties, curses? Is this what the stories talking about? 

Mono swings his sword at the second kid, this time aiming for the head. Just like its predecessor, the head explodes into shards. Mono blinks, sheathing his sword and pulling out his flintlock. Taking aim, Mono fires at the Bully beating up Seven. A gunshot rings out, followed by the third shatter of the day. In one of the temple windows, a shadow disappears into the temple, but the head stays, its neck stretching out with a ripping sound. A large smile is seen, right before it disappears 

Mono stares at the third body. He pokes it with his sword, touching the cold porcelain again. 

"How did this happen?" Mono says to nobody in particular. Seven, sitting a few feet away, gives an answer anyway. 

"It's the Teacher's magic. She's some ancient witch. It's why I want to find my friend before she becomes one of them. I'm hoping it's not too late. Usually, it takes about a month. We've only got a couple of days left. She somewhere in the temple," Seven states, looking down. It's a she. I wonder if she's like Six... Mono's thoughts trail off. 

"Hey Seven, where's Six?" Seven looks around, just as a scream erupts across the jungle. Mono shoots upright, bolting towards the sound. He hears Seven following close behind. Rounding the corner into a clearing, Mono catches Six's small form being dragged into the temple entrance. Her yellow cloak catches the wind, and rockets towards Mono, who catches it. The temple entrance slams closed, cracking the stone in the process. Mono turns towards Seven. 

"Now we've both got a friend to save."

A/N: Oh my god guys I am so sorry it's taken so long for this chapter to come out. I've gotten sidetracked, forgot about it for a few months, my computer stopped working.
