When they weren't hunting, they were switching off at Bella's. That was where Ever spent her nights now. Not in Jake's bed, comfortably in his arms. It was odd to her, missing the feeling of his warmed skin against hers. His heat didn't warm her the way she cooled him, but she had gotten used to the feeling; at least enough to miss it.

Another odd feeling was the material of the seats under her. They were in his car, not on his bike. Only because they were waiting for Edward to drop off Bella. They both waited, leaning against the trunk. "Doesn't he own a shirt?" Edward asked.

"I prefer it off." Ever answered. Jake chuckled beside her as Edward leaned in to kiss Bella. "Jesus."

Bella separated from Edward, walking over to Jake. "Hey, beautiful." He greeted, making Ever scrunch her nose.

"Hey." Bella replied before Jake wrapped her in a tight hug. Ever parked herself in the backseat of the car, letting Bella take the front.

"So, what you wanna do today?" Jake asked. "Bike, hike, just hang? Your call. But we're going to a party tonight." Bella looked over at Ever, who just shrugged.

They pulled up to Jake's house. "Just a second." He told Bella, leading Ever into the house.

"What are you doing?" She asked. He took a grey hoodie out of his closet, handing it to her.

"It's supposed to be cold tonight." He answered.

"I don't get cold." She reminded him.

"I know. Just wear it."

"You want me to wear your hoodie?" She asked, teasingly. She gasped dramatically. "You like me!"

"No, I imprinted on you." He argued.

"Admit it." She crossed her arms, a smile playing on her lips. "Come on, you know you like me. At least a little bit."

"I tolerate you." He replied.

"Then why do I sleep in your bed?" Ever asked. "And why are you taking me to a wolf party?"

"Because I like you. Now get back in the car, Bella's waiting."

"Are you sure this is okay?" Bella asked Jake. "I really hate being a party crasher."

"Technically, you're a council meeting crasher." Jake answered. "You see? The council leaders? Dad, Quil's grandpa, and Sue Clearwater. She took over for Harry when he died."

"Okay, I should not be here." Bella said.

"I second that." Ever agreed.

"You're okay." He told them. "I thought...I mean, they thought it would be good for Bella to hear the histories. And they know Ever and I are a package deal."

"The histories?" Bella asked.

"I don't like how that sounds, Jake." Ever admitted.

"The tribe's histories? Aren't they secret?" Bella asked.

"We all got a role to play, and you're both part of this." Jake answered. "I mean, it's the first time Seth, Leah, and Quil'll hear them, too. But you are the first outsiders. Ever."

"If I had known that, I would have, like...I don't know, dressed better." Bella said.

Ever looked down at the hoodie she wore. Jake had given it to her to remind them of who she was to him, not because he wanted her to wear it. Her heart sank, a ping of embarrassment coursing through her body. He didn't say he liked her because it was true, he said it to move on from the conversation. "Jake!" Seth called.
