A moan escaped his lips as he collapsed on top of her.
Sweat glistened both their foreheads as he pressed his lips against her shoulder blade.
He'd never tired of this, feeling this connected to someone.
It scared him how fast they were moving, were they rushing this? He questioned but he felt like he was making up for lost time.
He wanted to be wherever Mya was at all times.
She rolled from under him as she turned on her side to stare at him. Her eyes studied him like he was a book she was learning to read.
Her thumb traced the outline of his brow.
"You were in your element tonight with those boys. It's good to see."
She complimented him and Regius couldn't help the grin that spread across his lips.
"Thank you."
He pulled her closer to him.
"Compton and those boys are always going to be apart of my life. I want better for them, I want them to make it out like I did. I want them to know that there's more to life than gang violence and selling drugs."
He confessed as she nodded.
"Did you ever?"
Regius shook his head.
"My dad kept me away from that but I had a best friend Craig who couldn't help but be involved in the mess. Until one day we were walking home from school together, a car passed by, bullets fired and the next thing I know, I'm holding my best friend's lifeless body in my arms, screaming for help."
His eyes welled with tears as he fought them back.
"Reg."
Mya wrapped both her arms around his torso.
"Craig wanted out too. He was a damn good basketball player, but the streets got to him before the game did."
"I'm sorry."
She whispered.
She pressed her lips against his chest.
"I can't imagine what that might have been like for you."
Regius stared at the woman.
"People in my life tend not to stay Mya. My mother abandoned me, Craig died on me. All I've ever had are my dad, grandad and Sean since. I'm taking a chance on you because I want you to be one of the ones that stay."
She kissed him, her lips drinking him in as his body became alive.
He bit into her shoulder blade as a moan escaped her lips.
"I won't leave you Regius. Unless you leave me, you have me."
Her words caused his heart to swell as their tongues began their usual tango.
Every part of his body was set ablaze by her alone. How could someone he'd just met, consume all of him like she'd always been embedded in him.
********
Regius pulled up to the in-house court facility and his eyes widened.
"Wow."
He mouthed as he watched the facility. The court was the best he'd ever seen.
White washed walls, mahogany bleachers and a court that looked like if it was made for Jesus to step on.
