I never found this out until Ro asked me to write it yesterday. This ship is not tolerated by me...alright, I was being too harsh, but let me list why it wouldn't work.
1. They are from different generations. This is literally like shipping Tom Riddle with Ginny Weasley.
2. James Potter is Harry's father, and Hermione is Harry's best friend. Harry won't feel good about them, at all, the same applies to Ron.
3. One word, Lily. In order to make this work, Lily Evans/Potter must break up with James or never date him. As a huge Jily/Lames/Flowerpot shipper, I...
4. Don't forget Romione! Hermione already has a nice boy for him, so why go for James?
5. He spent years chasing after Lily. He wouldn't switch to Hermione after loving Lily for years, I suppose.
6. Time travel. If Hermione travels to the Marauders Era, I don't want her to end up with James. Maybe she and Remus would be cool, or a background character, but definitely not Lily's boyfriend.
