In mountain Herd it was the annual monthly feast. All the mares and stallions were out getting eggs, fresh grasses, and colorful berries! We were all lined up in front of the lead mare, Overstallion, captains, and the med mare.
Since they all knew some of the pegassi personally, all of them went over to a mare or stallion to assign jobs.
Frostfur Was biting his lip because he wanted an important job like getting eggs. He swished his tail softly waiting for somebody to give him a job. Suddenly one of the leaders of the herd came over. He was quivering in nervousness and quickly tensed then bowed his head in respect slowly.
"Raise your head young stallion" Stonewings slow but tough voice relaxed him and he steadily raised his head and the overstallion nodded.
"I hear you're the best egg gatherer in the whole herd, is that right?" he nickered softly.
"I'd like to believe so" he smiled, happy that stonewing had heard of him.
"Well then show me i want you to go get some of the finest eggs you can find, i even got my lead mare windcloud to weave you a basket" then he softly tossed him the basket
"you may go now but be sure to be back by sunrise at the latest" stonewing smiled and licked his lips "i hope to have some delicious eggs from you." he tossed his head signing to go, Frostfur bowed his head once again and ran of excitedly with the basket in his mouth he forgot where he was going and fell into a bush.
He stood up and shook the leaves and dirt off "I'm OK!" he squealed.
Stonewing couldn't help but chuckle.
Frostfur felt a mosquito but his rump so he swished his tail softly and flew into the trees hoping to find some nice and plump eggs. He found some large eagle eggs so he scooped them into the basket he flew off and he flew steadily for another hour keeping an eye out for more eggs.
In total he had 4 eagle eggs, 3 caw eggs, and the best of all the small but most flavorful hummingbird eggs! He went so far out in the territory he found the freshest green grass frostfur decided to gather some for the feast.
He swooped down and couldn't help but graze for a few minutes then when he had his fill he licked his lips then nickered in delight. Then he pulled some out and put it in his basket. He had room for a couple of small eggs or one large egg.
He felt a bite on his leg "ants!" he whimpered then he jumped up and shook them off, scared of the fire ants he leaped into the air and flew as fast as he could with fear in his eyes because his sire got attacked by a fire ant herd when he died they ate away at his cold flesh before his friends could blow them off then stomp on them.
Suddenly he ended up in the vein! The vein is the place between the pegasi territories where nobody is trespassing so they can travel in peace. "Where am I?!" Frostfur whined as he landed and he realized he was lost in the vein!
