Amara
Loud laughter exploded around us, and I was suddenly free.
"This was us pranking Mrs Amara Muraad, guys!" One of the men who basically had been manhandling me, spoke into his phone, as if streaming live on social media. "How hilarious was this!"
I immediately whirled around and almost died with relief when I saw that my brother was not being beaten up, but stood there looking murderous as he glared at the young guys surrounding us.
This had all been a bloody social media prank, all to get views and become viral.
I was shaking and tears were streaming down my face. The lengths these people will go to in order to get views was disgusting. These acts made me lose hope for all humanity. Suddenly, I felt so furious that I reached my arm out and slapped the phone out of his hand, causing it to fly out of his hand and fall onto the floor.
The group of guys, all seemingly younger than me, fell silent.
"You b***h! You know how much that phone was worth?" The filming dude spat at me. As in, literally spat. Droplets of spit flew as he stepped closer to me.
"You can't even afford common sense, which is free. I'm shocked how you can afford a smartphone of this quality." I snapped at him.
"Dude, it's still filming. She dissed you live." One of his friends had picked up his phone.
"Na tameez sikhai, na lehaaz. Bas smartphones pakda kay bhaij diya sadkon pe." Armaan Bhai glared at them.
*"They [your parents] didn't teach you mannerse or consideration. They just handed you smartphones and sent you out on the streets."
"Call the police, Bhai." I told my brother. "And you know what's hilarious. Idiots like these actually live stream their stupidity. Apes have more sense than them."
"Look, sis, don't call the police." Suddenly the Spiting Twit was cowering. "Let's leave it here. I'm sorry, we all are."
"One piece of advice," I told him. "Don't do pranks or activities that cause distress to other people. We may not call it 'karma', but the concept is the same. What goes around, really does come around. Always remember that."
I've heard of weird social media trends, including one where people had swallowed pods of washing up powder used for washing clothes*. Then there were trends that made people do things to their own bodies that made doctors and dentists all over the world facepalm.
*True fact. The Tide Pod trend is well known. Does common sense not exist anymore?
Is it just me or is the world becoming more and more stupid these days?
Suddenly, a car pulled up behind us and I turned and saw a very furious Muraad get out. He strode over towards us and put his hand on the small of my back. Nomi Bhai got out of the passenger seat and followed. I could see his sister and mother in the backside, with his sister staring out at us, worriedly.
