The cafe

This is set a couple months before the interview

You have worked here for 3 years and quite enjoy it you have just finished serving your favorite regular you learned his name was xiao from the months he's been coming here

He comes here everyday normally around noon he's a quiet person so he normally orders and leaves. he tips fairly well so you don't mind

But today he chose to sit down at one of the tables He's looks pretty stressed so you make him another drink and bring it to him

"Is everything ok? You look fairly stressed" you ask the man

He looks at you "I think everything's fine just work is getting busier and I would rather spend less hours at work"

You look at him "here on the house think of it as a gift" you smile

He thanks you and says he's got to get going

You watch as the peculiar person walks out of the cafe 'he seemed really stressed I hope everything's ok' you think

~the next day~

Your favourite regular and 3 other people walk in

'He's not a social person strange' you say as you observe the regular you scan the crowd and see a familiar blond

Your surprised and walk into the back to tell your co-worker to take theses peoples orders you don't want to face him.

Your co-worker sighs and walks out
You listen to your convo and hear the regular ask about where you are. Your co-worker just says your on break

'I'll have to thank him for covering for me' you think

You write a note saying you'll be back, you walk out of the back after getting out of your uniform you really don't want to talk to the familiar face

30 minutes later you walk past the front to make sure they weren't there sadly they were so you speed walk past the cafe into the store next door

You got a smoothie to hold you over for the time being

You really need to get back now you walk out of the store and back into the cafe to your surprise they were there

'I guess I have to talk to him' you think sadly to yourself you walk into the back and put your uniform back on you give the smoothie you bought for your co-worker to him

You thank him for covering of you
You walk into the big room and go behind the table where you take orders

You aren't paying attention but your favorite regular walks up

"Where were you? You normally take my order but I had to talk to someone else it was so awkward" he sighs

"Ah I'm sorry I had something important come up..."

He apologizes for seeming rude
He asks if you can make him his regular which you agree to

You finished making the drink and walk over to the table that the group was sitting at

"Here you go" you smile and say

"Thank you, I apologize for being rude a minute ago I was just worried for my favorite barista" he says

"It's fine, I'm glad I'm your favorite it's nice to know people can think highly of small business workers" you say and smile

"I never got your name" he says

"Oh it's (your name)

One of the people (the one you wanted to avoid) at the table have a surprised look on their face
