GIRLBOSS!
after a fair amount of chaos over the next day, the return to university began. they had all just pulled into the loading off zone in parking lot zone E and the boisterous voices of all the returning students carried through the car windows.
as they all unboarded the minivan, mrs. jeon was reprimanding jungkook behind her.
"check your phone regularly for my texts and calls, no more of your studying excuses!"
"yes, mom," said jungkook mechanically.
"and make sure you're eating all your meals on time, you're a growing boy afterall," she continued whilst lisa stayed a few steps behind them. it was awkward being with the jeons; every other moment, she felt like she was intruding on some personal matters.
"I know, mom."
mrs. jeon looked distractedly around herself. "oh and where's lisa? lisa!"
"right here, mrs. jeon."
"good. jungkook, look after lisa as well. help her around, won't you?"
for a moment, lisa's heart beat faster. new year's had been... different, somehow. maybe —
jungkook gave his mother an uninterested look. "what for? she's been going to school for two years too, hasn't she?"
well, a girl could dream.
before mrs. jeon could retort, a deep voice called out for jungkook. one of his friends clad in sweats and a hoodie was waving him over. he was already walking away from the both of them when lisa quickly waved goodbye to mrs. jeon. this was it. she wouldn't see the jeons again until spring break.
when she turned to pick up her dufflebags a voice snaked up behind her. "I want to make something clear."
startled, lisa jumped a little and promptly dropped her overstuffed bag, spilling some of its contents from the semi-open zipper. red-faced, she bent down hastily to stuff her cat-printed bra back into the bag and turned to face a perpetually disapproving jungkook.
she cleared her throat, praying he hadn't seen anything. "what is it?"
"I don't care what my mother told you, alright? I have no interest in seeing you until I have to during break. don't bother me about it." he took a step forward and instinctively, lisa retreated. "and do not tell anyone about your current living arrangements."
"I have no intention to," said lisa coolly.
"good." he passed her without a backwards glance and walked up to his waiting friend. lisa stared after him for a moment, before two junior girls noticed him passing them by and began elbowing each other and making a small fuss.
okay, so maybe less had changed than she originally thought.
