Thirteen

Ruby and the two guys beside her walk to the riverside. They want to share the raw meat. Most villagers will go there during the evening to have a great time. Since the river water is crystal clear, they will swim and play together there.

"Look! Miss Ruby is here to play with us!" said one of the children as she points her finger at her. Ruby smiles at him.

"How lovely for you to come here with both of your shining armour, Ruby" said the woman in her 30s. Everyone seems pleased with her existence at the riverside. The atmosphere change drastically merry as soon as she arrived there.

"Thank you, Mrs Beverly, I am pleased to meet all of you here. I want to share this raw meat with all the villagers. Well, it's all thanks to both of my shining armour" she said as she take both the man's hands in hers.

"Oh, what a masculine and gentleman you have with you, my dear Ruby. Say which one is your interest" said the old lady.

"We're just friends Lady Neesa. Both of them are dear friends to me" Ruby said.

"It's okay, you're still young. You have time to choose" she said as she winks. Ruby nods to her before she calls for the gentlemen around there to help her distribute the meat. Everything goes well and the three of them sit together at the riverside, taking a break. They watching every villager enjoy their time together

"What a nice day" she said.

"Indeed, everyone seems to like you very much Ruby" said Alucard. 

"It's good to know that at least you're not alone as what you think you are" Granger said to her. 

Ruby falls silent. She always thinks she's alone. She never realizes that the villager is there, all the time supports her. Still, she feels lonely. With both Alucard and Granger existence, she feels less lonely. Everything will become normal back once they leave the village.

"You may feel lonely at home, but there are people around you who will get your back. Treat the villagers as your family and the loneliness will go away" said Alucard as he puts his arm around her, closing the gap.

Ruby can't help but blush. Granger on the other hand look at them with envy all over his face. He's not that carefree as Alucard is. And he does aware that Ruby has an interest in his friend.

"Remember you are not alone. Even the animals in the forest adores you" said Granger. Ruby takes his hand and hold it. Granger looks away. There's a tint of red on his face.

"Thank you both of you, for opens my eyes and make me realize it myself. You make me feel better. I'm glad I meet the two of you" she said as she leans more to Alucard and hold Granger's hand even tighter. They stay there for a moment.

"Anyone wants to play volleyball?" said one of the guys around their age. 

"Why don't you two join?" Ruby said, encourage both of her friends to join them.

"Well, I'm down" said Alucard.

"Me too" Granger said as both of them stand up walking to the crowd. Ruby watches the two of them walks and looking forward to the match. After they form a team, the match start. It seems like both Granger and Alucard in the opposite team with each other.

"Ruby cheer for me! Surely my team will win" Alucard said from afar as he gives her a wink.  Granger looks at him, unsatisfied. Granger looks at Ruby for a short moment without saying anything. Ruby knows Granger wants her to cheer for him as well but he is just too shy to ask her for it.

"You'll do well, Granger!" said Ruby teasingly as she cheers for him instead of Alucard.

"Hey! You're mean" said Alucard as he takes his fist to his chest- pretends to be hurt. Alucard and his act will never be separate. Granger gives Ruby a small smile before he brings his attention to the other team.

"I'll show you who's better," said Alucard as he start the service. The match is intense. Both teams do their best to win. Every hit that they give to each other is powerful. Ruby watches them from afar, not siding any team. As she watches the match, Alucard's team is on the lead. It seems like Alucard is way better than Granger in this game.

The game ended and eventually Alucard's team win.

"Oh yeah I win this time!" said Alucard with pure joy. Ruby buy them a drink and she walks toward her friends. She offers them the drink.

"You finally win Alu! Congrats!" she said. Alucard takes the drink from her hand.

"Of course, I'm good at this game" he said with full of confidence as he winks.

"You did your best Granger, congrats too!" she said as she gives him the water.

"Thanks for the drink" said Granger before he finishes the drink in just one shot. Ruby on the other hand did buy herself a drink too. She opens the lid and quenches her thirst.

"It's a quite hot right?" said Alucard before he take his shirt off. Ruby who currently drinking chokes herself. How can he just take off his shirt just like that?

"Hey drink slowly" Alucard said as he pats her back. Ruby face is tinted with red. She coughs several times. Alucard's toned body makes her stand uncomfortably. She wishes for Alucard to go away. She feels embarrassed. His figure is too tempting for her- she feels she wants to stare at him for a moment.

She needs to find excuses for him to go away.

"Y-you stinks, go take a dip at the river" she said as she looks away. She can't look at him.

Granger scoffs. Alucard stands there,  bewildered for a moment.

"Sorry for that. Granger, you are coming with me, I'm sure you stink too" he said as he drags Granger with him all the way to the river.

"Hey- I am not" he said as he tries to fight back.

"No no, you're coming with me" said Alucard. Like usual, they fight with each other and somehow both of them ended in the river.
