He had to stop thinking about Hwaseong

Hongjoong had no idea what was going on with him. He had a mission. A very important mission.

And yet he was getting side-tracked with frivolous friendships. Well, he hoped maybe more than friendship...

"Agh!" he groaned, hitting himself in the cheek. He really needed to stop letting his mind wander.

But Hwaseong did that to him.

He was so sweet, so easygoing, so adorable, so handsome, so...perfect. In every way. And Hongjoong knew he was whipped.

But he had to push Hwaseong out of his mind. He had important business to attend to and Hwaseong was really starting to get in the way.

Besides, Hongjoong wasn't even sure if Hwaseong felt the same way.

First of all, he didn't want to hang out with just Hongjoong and even brought what seemed like an overprotective boyfriend. He knew he shouldn't jump to conclusions since Hwaseong had never confirmed, but it was pretty obvious.

And almost every attempt Hongjoong had had at flirting, Hwaseong had turned down. For instance, the contact name. Though he knew it was uncalled for, he had hoped it would maybe make Hwaseong flustered and stuttery. Instead, he had been repulsed.

But then there was the second half of the night.

Hwaseong had invited him to walk around the street at night which was overwhelmingly romantic. And then they'd shared childhood stories—something Hongjoong was deliberately told not to do to anyone no matter how insignificant they seemed—and Hwaseong admitted he found him easy to talk to too.

And he'd offered to drive him home! Hongjoong didn't actually have a ride but the walk was helping him cool down after everything that had happened and riding right next to Hwaseong and having Hwaseong know where he lived was too much.

Plus, he needed to focus. If he rode with Hwaseong things might just go even further.

He grabbed his hair in frustration. This was supposed to be an easy mission. All he had to do was figure out the name and identity of the CEO's son.

Which was actually not that easy. Especially when he had nothing to go off of other than he had been placed in the same office building as him. Even their mole in KQ corporate couldn't find out his identity. That was the most information he had been able to get on him. So it was up to Hongjoong.

And he was head over heels for someone who might even be the person he's hunting.

He knew that his heart told him Hwaseong was far too pure to be the son of that monster but his mind told him to remember that it could be anyone.

His biggest assistance was that he knew the CEO's son would be observing him. But he didn't know if he was alone or if the whole office was watching him.

It was honestly really unsettling. Every time someone was nice to him he never knew if it was sincere or if they were testing him.

The only way he was able to motivate himself to try again tomorrow was knowing their mole was working to get more information for him, as well as clear his name.

It was a risk as the mole had been successfully hidden in the company for almost a decade at this point but they were so close to taking them down once and for all.

Finally he reached his apartment and headed inside, shaking the mountain of thoughts out of his mind.

He had hoped he'd drink enough to clear his mind but walking in the night air had almost entirely sobered him up. He grabbed a beer from his fridge and laid down on the couch, staring at the ceiling.

He would figure it out.

He just needed to keep himself from getting distracted.

He needed to stop thinking about Hwaseong.
