A national symbol is a patriotic symbol that represents a nation and manifests its history and culture. It unites the people despite all their differences in gender, religion, region, caste, creed etc. They represent the people of our nation, values, goals and history.
So, I’m here with this article to honour our national symbols by celebrating them and to get to know each and every one of them. Since we saw what a national symbol is.

The national symbols of India represent the Indian heritage and exhibit our identity. They imbue a sense of patriotism and pride for our country in our hearts.

🗣 The National Anthem - Jana Gana Mana 🗣
Jana Gana Mana is the anthem of India. It was composed by Rabindranath Tagore, originally as Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata. It was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India as the National Anthem on 24 January 1950.
🦚 The National Bird - Peacock 🦚
Peacock, also called the Indian peafowl, was declared the national bird of India by 1963. It was because of its opulent involvement in Indian traditions. It is one of the most propitious animals that represents the country's fauna.
🐯 The National Animal - Tiger 🐯
The Royal Bengal tiger was declared the national animal in April 1973 with the instigation of Project Tiger, to guard tigers. The combination of robustness, resilience, agility and massive dominance has earned the tiger it’s right as the national animal of India.
🌷 The National Flower - Lotus 🌷
Lotus, the national flower of India, is also known as the flower of Goddess Laxmi (Hindu Goddess of wealth) which denotes wealth, prosperity, and fecundity. It also signifies purity due to the fact that it grows amidst the mud and remains untouched by it.
Composed in Sanskrit by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyaya, ‘Vande Mataram’ inspired many freedom fighters throughout the freedom struggle. This touching poem was first sung by Rabindranath Tagore during the 1896 session of the INC {Indian National Congress} held at Beadon Square, Calcutta.
🇮🇳 The National Emblem - Lion Capital of Ashoka 🇮🇳
Lion Capital of Ashoka at Sarnath which is near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh , has 4 Asiatic Lions standing back to back in an exceedingly circular abacus. It stands as a fully burgeon inverted lotus form. This has been represented as the national symbol of India.
Each National Symbol of India has profound significance to the Indian subcontinent. They proclaim the country’s history, culture, heritage and traditions as a community.
They intimate the country’s growth, prosperity, and the way the country needs everything to come back together to prosper.
