Hayoung slowed down as her car slithered into the small alleys. She pulled over on the road side and got off. She checked the address once again. To confirm it, Hayoung asked one of the villager

Hayoung-Excuse me, do you know this address?

The middle-aged lady pointed towards a house with blue gate

Hayoung-Thank you

Hayoung walked approaching the house. The knocked on the gate twice, but no answer

She heard distinct noises coming from inside. Hayoung knew there were people, so she knocked again. At last, a young girl around 16 years old came to open the gate

Hayoung-Hello, are you Ahn Daejin's daughter?

She simply nodded

Hayoung-What is your name?

"Ahn Hyemin"

Hayoung-Hi Hyemin, I'm Prosecutor Oh Hayoung
Hyemin-Are you dad's friend too?
Hayoung-Too? What do you mean?
Hyemin-Someone came earlier and said he is dad's friend
Hayoung-Who?

Hyemin led Hayoung to theim backyard. Hayoung wondered who came to see Daejin's kids before her. Did anyone else know?

Hayoung-Oh Sehun?

Sehun stopped playing with Sungmin, Daejin's second son. He turned around. Obviously, he was flustered too

///

Hayoung and Sehun sat on the plank. Nobody talked for a good 15 minutes. But in the end, Hayoung chose to start first

Hayoung-What are you doing here?
Sehun-It's not your business

Honestly, Hayoung felt offended. It wasn't the response she expected from someone who caused Daejin to be where he was right now

Hayoung-How could you find this house?
Sehun-I have my own way. Can you just stick to your own business? Daejin told you to extend the letter to his kids, no? Why don't you just drop it and go

Hayoung-For your information, Daejin's kids are under my care now
Sehun-I don't find any information related to that. You can't simply claim someome else's kids as yours without law proceeding, you that better Ms Prosecutor

Hayoung bit her lip, frustrated

Hayoung-Whatever. My point is, I don't want Hyemin and Sungmin to meet someone who caused their father to be sentenced to death. You literally have no shame
Sehun-You better watch your words from now, Oh Hayoung

"He.. What?"

Hayoung and Sehun turned around at once. Hyemin and Sungmin were standing at the door right behind them. Of course, they both unintentionally overheard it

Hyemin-Ahjusshi, what did you do to my dad? Ahjusshi?
Hayoung-Hh.., Hyemin, it's not like you think
Sehun-She is right Hyemin. I'm sorry

Tears welled up in Hyemin's eyes

Hyemin-Please leave. I don't want to see you again. Leave!

Sehun picked up his coat and left

Hyemin ran back into her house. She buried her face into her hands, crying. Hayoung stepped inside and sat with Hyemin, stroking her back gently

Hayoung-Hyemin, are you okay?
Hyemin-No! How could he do such thing to my dad? What did he do wrong? My dad is innocent
Hayoung-Yes, I know. I know he's innocent

Hayoung put her arms around Hyemin. She waited until Hyemin's cry reduced

Hayoung cooked dinner for Hyemin and Sungmin, and even ate with them. Later, she helped putting Sungmin to sleep before she decided to go home

Hayoung-Actually, I came to give you this

Hayoung handed Daejin's letter to Hyemin

Hayoung-Your father wanted you to read this. To him, nothing is important as long as you and Sungmin trust him

Tears streamed down Hyemin's face again

Hyemin-Prosecutor Oh, is there any chance for my dad to be free? Please, he is innocent. Please save him
Hayoung-I will try my best Hyemin. I promise, I will

***

Hayoung got off from her car and locked it. She walked towards her apartment complex and she spotted a figure sitting alone at the park bench

Hayoung slowly approached the person who turned out to be Sehun

Hayoung-Sehun sshi?

He sprained his neck around. Sehun invited Hayoung to sit with him

Hayoung-What are you doing here alone?
Sehun-Just drinking, and figuring out what's next. Want some?
Hayoung-Uhm, no. I have trial tomorrow

Sehun nodded. He popped another can of beer and bottomed up

Sehun-How is Hyemin?
Hayoung-I said I would stay until tomorrow to make sure she feels better. But Hyemin assured me she is fine, so I went home. I promised to come again tomorrow

Sehun nodded his head

Hayoung-Sehun sshi? I'm truly sorry about what I just said in front of Hyemin and Sungmin. I shouldn't accuse you like that. Honestly, I just saw you with Cho Minhyuk, but I had zero idea what happened. It was my fault
Sehun-No, don't be sorry. You are not totally wrong though

Sehun drank his beer before tossing the can into the trashbin

Sehun-You are right about me seeing Cho Minhyuk. At first, I tried to set him up so he would admit to his crime. But I didn't know he had a back-up plan with Jeongwoo and framed Ahn Daejin
Hayoung-Then, it's not your fault
Sehun-It is. I failed to save someone who is innocent. When you failed to preserve the law, you are the failure. Are we not?

He smirked, bitter

Sehun-I'm going home. You should too. Don't stay out too long

Hayoung watched Sehun left. He looked miserable. From the way he walked, Hayoung assumed he could trip anytime

Hayoung-He is so clumsy

She followed Sehun closely from behind until he safely got into his house before she also rolled into her own unit
