Ferrer's POV
Katya reached out to me. She wants to talk.

I don't know what to expect because it's been a while since I broke up with her. It's been over three months. I invited her over to my house but she insisted on a public place. I picked an alfresco restaurant with a view of central park.

My attention is on a man with two children. He's trying to teach them how to fly a kite. I don't think that is something someone is taught. I blame that on my childhood. I never did such things. My father is trying to make it up to me although he can't teach me anything. I figured out things on my own... Just like Terrence. The man has been running up and down  trying to carry out a demonstration

"Good morning." Katya's voice drew me away from the interesting man. His sons are probably taking advantage of him. I stood up quickly but suffered an awkward moment because I am not sure whether to kiss her or shake her hand.

"Good morning. You look pretty."

"Uh... thank you?" She laughed.

I held out the chair for her. I took my place. "How have you been?"

"Fine... I guess. Now I'm fine, I wasn't before but I'm fine. How are you? How is your hand?"

"Full of scars but functional." I folded it to hide it under the table. "Did your wrist heal?"

"Fairly. I ditched the cast. It was inviting pity parties."

"The idea of a cast is to keep it in place for better healing."

"What if I tell you I can punch you with this hand?" She moved her wrist a little. ,

"I would believe you. Let's order."

"Actually no. I'm not staying. I have something for you." A cool breeze blew past her carrying her sweet scent to my nostrils. She looks pretty today. Much prettier than usual. I received the small sized envelop. It's not sealed. As soon as I caught a glimpse of what was inside I knew what it is. I looked at her then at the sonogram. "How far along?"

"Twelve weeks."

It must have been at the prison.

I leaned forward staring at the little dot in the sonogram.

I am fighting the urge to ask her if it's mine. There's Federov. Then there was Nick but that got cleared up. But it is mine. One thing I can count on Katya to do is to be honest in most things.

"Okay. Talk to me. What's our plan?"

"Ferr, I'm sorry but there's no us in this." I frowned at her. "I'll raise the baby on my own."

"Why? I'm not opposed to this. I know I made a hasty decision when I broke up with you. It was unfair and I hurt you. I'm sorry. This child is not just yours, it's mine too. You can't say you'll raise the baby on your own!"

"I did it with Terrence. Why shouldn't I do it with this one?"

I reached across the table for her hand but she quickly retracted it. I folded mine inti a fist. "Cariño, por favor, forgive me for how insensitive I was to you. If you give me a chance, I would like for us to get back together."

"Because of the baby."

"No. I intended to ask you this even before you called me. Come on Katya, give me a chance."

She looked away. Her electric eyes are stormy with emotion. What my dad said to me had me thinking so much after that. She sacrificed her father to save me. What happened wasn't her fault. It just happened that she was his daughter. I'm willing to let go of any resentment because of her lying about she is and possibly accepting that I'll be a mob husband if things progress.
