Wishes upon a star

don't come true

but I'll try for you.

She clears her throat, twisting her fingers together as she stands next to the swingset. She's cautious, unsure if she should sit again or not.

For the past six years, it's been her ritual to come to sit on this exact swing and make a wish. She's made the same wish over and over, but it still hasn't come true.

After six years of no change, it's not wrong to lose hope. And she is. She's becoming an adult now, no time for silly things like making wishes on the sky and hoping for someone to come and make her happier. But she wishes there was.

She wishes her wish would come true. What would it be like to have someone around all the time?

Sighing, she sits down, hating herself for being back when she said she wouldn't be.

She closes her eyes, taking a deep breath and looking up at the cloudy sky. I need this to work, she thinks. Please.

"I wish, with all of my heart, that I'll find someone who makes me fall in love with life again."
