She saw him looking at her. She smiled and waved. Both looking away, started walking towards each other. Taking slow steps, dodging the people in the crowd, she ran into someone.
"Oh, I'm so sorry about-" She says looking up.
"Don't be." The man says charmingly.
"I'm Vera. Vera Farmiga."
"Patrick Wilson. I wanted to ask you to go get some drinks."
"You do?"
"I do. How about we leave this place?"
"Sure." She smiled.

He opens the door to the black SUV for Vera. She smiled and thanked him. He went around the other side and got in.
"So Vera tell me about you." He looks at her.
"Well." She smiles. "What do you want to know about me?"
"Got any brothers or sisters?"
"Got 2 brothers and three sisters."
"I have a brother and sister. Donny you can stop right here." He says. "Come on." He says taking her hand getting out. She looks at him.
"How are you still single?"
"Why do you want to know?" He holds the bar door open.
"I don't know you just seem so polite and sweet."
"Well some people like to take that for granted."
"I know I never would." She says sitting down. He looked at her.
"So, why are you still single?" She sighs.
"I was in two abusive relationships after another. I guess you could say I just push people away now. I'm scared to be in something like that again."
"Why?"
"Why what?" She looks into his eyes.
"Why were they like that to you?"
"One had a temper and the other was an alcoholic."
"Maybe the third one is a charm." He takes a drink.
"Patrick?"
"Yeah?"
"Why did you want me to come get drinks with you?"
"I- uh, really like you." He drinks, trying to make it less awkward.
"You do?"
"A lot." He nods and smiles.
Sitting there for an hour or so, the two learned things about each other.
"Hey, Pat?"
"Yeah?"
"Can you take me home?"
"Sure. How else did you think you were going to get home?" He takes her hand helping her off the stool. They walk out, and Patrick holds the door open for her.
"You know I can hold my own doors?" She smiles.
"Oh come on, you like it." He chuckles.
"Ok, you're right." She says getting in his SUV. It was quiet for the first couple minutes. "How about tomorrow night, I will cook you dinner?" She asks.
"That would be nice."

Don, Patrick's driver, let Vera out at her apartment. She walked a couple steps.
"I had a fun time tonight.." Patrick says, rolling down his window and then smiling.
"I did too. See you tomorrow. How does six o'clock sound?"
"Sounds great. See you tomorrow." He waved and rolled his window up.
She walked to her apartment with a smile. She sat down on the stairs taking her heels off.
"Vera what the hell are you getting yourself into?" She says to herself.
