The football stadium is located between the high school and the river that runs through the middle of town. When we arrive at the school, the parking lot is already filling up. Looking for a place to sit on the cheap metal bleachers on the home side, we find a few empty spots on the bottom row. It seems like most people prefer to go to the top.

Feeling my excitement building, I glance around at all the people surrounding me. I already know this is going to be better than watching a game on TV. You can literally feel everyone's excitement buzzing, making the whole atmosphere feel charged with it.

My eyes catch on Lucien and Uncle Ben walking in together, and I narrow my eyes in their direction. They have no reason to be here other than keeping an eye on me. Thanks to Emily's earlier comment, Uncle Ben is probably hoping to get a look at Lawrence. They both catch my narrowed stare and nod in my direction before heading further up the bleachers. At least they aren't trying to sit with me.

My attention is drawn away from them when the cheerleaders line up on the sideline, and everyone cheers loudly while the football team runs onto the field. I scan the players, looking for the only two numbers I really care about.

It's only a few minutes into the game when Oliver throws a perfect spiral right into Micah's waiting arms, scoring the first touchdown of the game. Emily and I both leap to our feet, cheering loudly for both of them. Micah points over to the two of us while doing a stupid little dance, making everyone in the stands laugh.

By halftime, our team has scored three more touchdowns, two of them caught by Micah. A bunch of the crowd leaves the stands once halftime starts. Most of them want to stretch their legs, take a bathroom break, or get some concessions. Our group stays in our seats, though, not interested in fighting against the crowd.

"They're playing great, aren't they?" Emily asks loudly to be heard over the noise, and I nod in agreement.

"Well, well, well... look who we have here."

We all turn towards the new voice, and I have to bite my lip to contain a groan. River's standing a few feet from us with her hipped cocked to one side, her arms folded across her chest. Her body language makes it clear that she's here to cause trouble.

"You couldn't find anyone better to sit with than a freshman and our little brother?" She asks snidely. A petite blonde girl that I've never seen before stands beside River, glaring right at me, but I ignore her for now.

Scanning River's outfit, I can't stop the amusement from showing on my face. She's wearing a short black mini dress that barely covers everything it should, an open puffer jacket over the top, and thigh-high black boots. She looks half trashy and half ridiculous, thanks to the puffer jacket paired with that outfit. What would make her think this is an appropriate outfit for a football game?

"Love the outfit, River," I say, trying to keep a straight face. Just as she starts to smirk smugly, I continue. "Did it come with a pole?"

River's face transforms from superiority to pissed in a nanosecond. Emily tries to cover her laugh with a cough, and Julian bites his lip in an attempt to hold in his own. His shoulders visibly shake, though, giving him away.
