A Crossroad

I curl in this corner painting scars
On my shattered hopes and battered heart,
I search the skies for falling stars
For a last wish as I depart.

I pray as sad tears cascade on my face
That he would hold in his heart what was true,
That he may treasure, as we separate ways,
The better days that had gone through.

As he leaves this dead crossroad,
May the odds help me find their grace,
That I may find strength to watch him go
And to leave this broken place.

I stand by this post, seeing what I set free
Happiness finding him, laying him rest,
And a little regret tortures me,
But I know it's for the best.

Someday I'll find that strength to leave
Where our roads are crossed by fate,
So I'll  stand here as my reprieve,
For that strength, I shall wait.

We may meet on the next crossroads,
But it'll be a brighter day,
It may be nostalgic to behold,
But it'll be happier anyway.

I shall bury them on this crossroad,
As he walks farther miles away,
The past, the words left untold,
None left that can make him stay.
