Seeing the heavy emotion on your face, the sight mingling with your scent- it was unlike any other time Tanjiro's ever seen you like. It was raw and...
𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐊𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐃𝐎 siblings left and got settled down at the Butterfly Mansion, owned by none other than Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira herself— the meeting commenced. All ten of the Hashira sat comfortably aligned opposite to the master and his two daughters. The room inside of headquarters was dark, being dimly lit by two standing lamps in front of the family. You sat between Giyu and Mitsuri, the Water and Love Hashira, as the official meeting began after dark in the Headquarters.
"Just as you all have reported, the carnage of the demons has grown more than ever. Leaving the threat to human life in turn greater than it has ever been." The Master, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, stated. "We must bolster the ranks of the demon slayers. What then are your thoughts?"
"The incident on Mt. Natagumo says it all. The caliber of demon slayers has dropped tremendously. Most of them are useless." Sanemi spoke calmly but his words were harsh. "Their trainers must've gone blind or something. You'd think they'd at least tell if someone is competent or not."
"Well that kid today sure packed a lot of punch." Said Tengen, who brought his hand to his chin with a teasing smile, annoying the man. "He landed that dazzling blow on you, Shinazugawa. He's got potential."
"The more the human race grows, the harder it becomes to control and unify them. And in this era, that seems to be even more true." Said Shinobu, restoring the seriousness of the conversation.
"There are those who've joined us after their loved ones were slaughtered, and there are those of noted pedigree who have hunted demons for generations," Gyomei added his thoughts to the conversation. "But for everyone else, it's another matter. Asking laymen for the same or even greater commitment to our cause, I feel would be much too cruel."
"But consider that this boy, soon after joining, encountered a Twelve Kizuki." Rengoku chimed in with a slight counter. "I think he could draw them out. Even we rarely get the chance to confront one. I am envious!"
"And (y/n)." The sound of your name coming from the Master's voice pulled you from your head where you pondered on the comments from your peers, and focused your attention on him. "What are your thoughts on the matter?"
The question surprised you slightly, you didn't expect him to seek your perspective in the discussion. Of course he liked to hear from all of the Hashira, but it was usually when they actively spoke out loud to be heard by him.
"The simple truth is that the members of the Demon Slayer Corps have grown weak." Your statement caused each Hashira to turn towards you. Sanemi smirked at your bluntness. "Their cockiness and arrogance with being above the average human, gets to their head and their ego rises. They kill a demon or two and think they are the greatest. They want to fight each other more than the common enemy. They don't value training, they don't value human life, they don't value an end goal, they don't value anything. They only know to fight at the level they are, not caring to change, grow or develop. Then they die."
