Lo and behold, after I announced my "favorite Total Drama ships", I was awakened to the glory of a Total Drama ship that seems like it was made specifically to cater to me. If I was to make that Top 5 list right now, this would definitely make it on the list.
So, ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, Camlightning.
Remember when I said Nowen was my favorite M/M ship in all of Total Drama? Yeah, I take that back. Nowen is now my second-favorite M/M Total Drama ship. THIS is now my favorite M/M ship in all of Total Drama.
Why? Two words: jock/nerd. You guys KNOW that jock/nerd is my absolute favorite ship dynamic. And Lightning and Cameron are just the purest physical embodiments of those archetypes. They are literally that "Virgin and Chad" meme. In addition, Cameron and Lightning are also an example of genius/dumbass and height difference, two ship dynamics I am very fond of. And to top it off, the "nerd" has a red color scheme and the "jock" has a blue color scheme- just like Hardenshipping!
Plus, while these two did fight each other and Lightning expressed a desire to "crush him like a grape", one must understand that he was under a lot of pressure. His dad literally bet his championship rings on him winning, and a million dollars was at stake. If you look at the two's interactions before, like, the last third of Revenge of the Island, they actually seemed to be on pretty good terms with each other. Heck, Lightning saved Cameron from drowning in the first episode of Revenge of the Island.
Plus, both of these characters are characters I find extremely likeable. Cameron is adorkable and smol, and Lightning is a total himbo. So it's a win-win!
