I knew I'd end up in a hearse eventually.

Most of us do in the end.

1998 wasn't the year I'd imagined it happening though, considering I'm only twenty four.

I'd thought I'd at least have another fifty years left.

This also isn't how you expect a road trip to start but here I am.

Middle of fuckin' nowhere, somewhere south of Sydney, driving an old black secondhand hearse from the 80's, screaming along to my Alannis Morrisset cassette with my windows down.

I've not one damn clue where I'm going, but that's kinda the point.

"And what it all comes down to

Is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet.."

I'm belting out this song like my life depends on it, letting my arm sway outside the drivers window and I'm still shocked how fast this old death limousine can go.

Gomez.

That's this beasts name, and honestly I don't think I could've picked a better partner or car for a road trip — plus it was cheap as shit, cheaper than the vans I was looking at.

The adventures of Layla and Gomez.

The unstoppable duo. Kinda has a ring to it, hey?

Working at the record store didn't exactly leave me swimming in money, it left me broke as hell a lot of weeks but I loved that job, I love anything that surrounds me with music.

Until I randomly quit last week.

Pretty much everyone in my life thinks I've had some kind of mental breakdown and maybe I have, who knows, if this is what they feel like — then they feel a- fucking - mazing.

I'm going with the terms soul searching, wanderlust or spontaneity.

Sounds more poetic than quarter life crisis.

"I'm free, but I'm focused

I'm green, but I'm wise

I'm hard, but I'm friendly, baby"

There's something so euphoric about driving as fast as you can along a straight country road, with nothing but fields in either direction while yelling your heart out to this damn album.

Jagged Little Pill.

I wish I could write an album like this someday.

Write something that makes someone else feel the way this makes me feel.
