for as long as she could remember, sundays were dedicated to spending time at home with her family and lounging around all day with no responsibilities or the need to even put on normal clothes. when she started high school, she used sundays to take the day off of nearly everything which included not doing anything school related, regardless if it was something her teachers assigned or outside club activities. y/n really treasured the time to herself and would turn down invitations when her friends planned to hang out on that particular day of the week. as much as she treasured her 'sacred sunday', she couldn't help but make an exception when she started dating iwaizumi hajime in their third year of high school.

y/n being vice president of the astronomy club and iwaizumi being a part of the boys volleyball team meant that they didn't have much time during the week to hang out alone. their only option was for y/n to dedicate part of her sunday to him. looking back, after almost ten years since they started dating, she wouldn't have changed a thing. sure, she had been a bit reluctant at first to change the one constant in her life but she quickly realized that iwaizumi had become her new constant the longer they were together. she was perfectly content with the decisions her teenage self made because it led to the wonderful life she has with her husband and their son.

now, at twenty-seven years old, y/n spent most of her weekends at home with her small family that she loved with every fiber of her being. they even started their own version of her teenage 'sacred sunday' by taking their son out wherever he wanted for the entire day. more often than not, however, iwaizumi found himself missing the outings due to having to travel for work, so that left y/n and kosuke to hang out by themselves. knowing this, it wasn't very often iwa had the chance to be home for an entire weekend so when he asked if he could go out with kosuke by himself the upcoming sunday, y/n immediately agreed. she was excited, not because she would have a day all to herself but because their son had been asking when his daddy would be able to hang out with him and she knew that this weekend would bring him so much joy.

soon enough the day had finally arrived. unable to contain his excitement, kosuke woke up with the sun and was quick to run to his parents room to wake them up. the sun still hadn't risen completely over the horizon when y/n heard the loud thud of the boy's footsteps running down the stairs.

"he's coming now, isn't he?" iwaizumi grumbled while tightening his hold around his wife and planting a kiss on the side of her head. she only let out a huff of laughter before telling him to be quiet and pretend to be asleep for when their son actually walked in. there wasn't any other reason they did this besides humoring the kid and allowing him to think that he was the one who woke his parents up every morning. as soon as they settled back down in each other's embrace, their bedroom door slowly opened to reveal the small body of their excited five year old.

"mommy," he tried to whisper but his voice was only slightly softer than his normal tone.

"daddy?" kosuke made his way clumsily onto the bed that y/n and iwaizumi shared and tried to squeeze his body in between the two. he was only able to settle down on top of them but he didn't let that stop him. he softly pressed his hands to his parent's faces and rubbed their cheeks to wake them up.

in near perfect sync, the high school sweethearts cracked their eyes open and laughed when they caught sight of their son's chubby face hovering only a couple of centimeters from their own. although he didn't understand why they were laughing, kosuke giggled with his parents as they tucked him underneath the sheets to snuggle before they all had to get up and ready for the exciting day ahead of them. the moment didn't last long though because kosuke couldn't contain his excitement enough to lay still and was jumping around, climbing over y/n and iwaizumi as if they were a playground. another reason being hunger. they couldn't escape the sounds of their rumbling stomachs so the family of three made their way to the kitchen to get started on preparing breakfast.
