Ariels POV
I was putting the finishing touches on my hair. The usual waves were slightly more tamed, smoothed by hairspray and a curling iron.
The dress hugged me the same way it did at the store, and I felt nerves tickle my stomach.
Suddenly a shadow appeared behind me, his soft blue eyes looked over me in the mirror. Alastor's Shadow doesn't speak, but he seems to have taken an interest in me lately.
He brings me detached horns and shiny litter from the streets of hell. The other day he brought me a severed hand, to which I screamed and Alastor chastised him.
I felt bad for getting him in trouble, so I gave him a little treat later that day.
But now he was just eyeing me curiously. He was even bigger than Alastor, standing at about 8 ft tall. His big electric blue eyes reminded me of a puppy, but about 100 times more murderous.
His antlers were bigger than Alastor's, they looked like when Alastor gets angry. His Jack-o-lantern smile was relaxed and he swept around me, curling around my legs.
I giggled and some of my nerves dissipated, "hi, sweetie," I greeted him and he erupted in a purr. He brushed up against my cheek with his cheek, churring softly.
I giggled again and he pressed his nose up against my neck, the soft purr making him vibrate against my skin. He was like a big overgrown cat.
I rubbed his shadowy ears and gently pushed his "hair" away from his face, cupping his cheek. He leaned into my touch and a soft chitter exited his mouth. I pushed my nose up against his, a small smile on my face.
"Go get your daddy," I said softly, "tell him I'm ready,"
He cooed and disappeared.
In the time it took me to turn around, Alastor was standing behind me. I looked up at him and blushed.
He was wearing his hair pulled back, the shorter pieces framing his face. Instead of his monocle he was wearing little glasses that looked so cute.
I smoothed out the front of his freshly pressed jacket. It was a deep red color, like a wine red. The trim was gold thread and it just looked expensive.
His phone call with Charlie a couple of days ago had calmed his nerves slightly about the banquet.
She had called to tell him he doesn't need to worry about her father, and that his cryptic letter was nothing to worry over.
"Look at you..." he said softly, and brushed his fingers over my cheek, causing me to lean into his touch.
"Look at me? Look at you, handsome~" I purred and he blushed. My tail swished nervously and I sighed.
"Let's get a move on...it's 2:30 now," I said and he nodded.
"Yes, let's. I'd rather get this over with," he grumbled. With that he grabbed my hand and the world around us melted away.
As the world reformed, my eyes opened wide. The Magne palace was...big. To say the least.
"Oh..." I breathed out, my nerves returning in an instant, "so um...w-why does he want to see me?" I asked, knowing he doesn't know the answer.
"Let's go find out, sweetheart," he sighed, and grabbed my hand, leading me up the stairs. At the large doors two imp guards bowed their heads to us, opening the doors.
"Radio Demon, and Radio Mistress..." my cheeks heated up.
Radio Mistress?
I held onto Alastor's arm as we entered. There weren't many people gathered in the main room, but it was clearly set up for a party.
There were large marble tables stacked with food items and desserts. There was another table filled with glasses of wine, and also shots.
There was another table filled with more wine...or...blood, yea that's blood. I cringed and hugged Alastor's arm.
The few people in the room paid Alastor and I no mind. Some looked over and waved, but that's about it. It was a contrast from the way I had grown used to him being treated.
I got curious looks from the powerful people in the room. There was a tall woman with long, slender fingers that looked like knives. There was tall a man with a spider web adorning his head at its crest.
Another person that caught my eye was an owl who was...you guessed it...tall.
He looked...whimsical, if that's a proper way to describe it. He was talking with a man who was relatively shorter than most people in this room.
I could tell he was obviously still taller than me, but that's not saying much.
I noticed Alastor take in a short breath, and looked up at him. The smile on his face was ridiculous, looking utterly predatory. It was actually kind of frightening.
On my face I wore an uncertain frown, and Alastor's posture straightened. He held himself almost like royalty.
The owl spotted us and this made the shorter man's attention switch towards us as well.
My heart dropped down through my stomach and I'm surprised it didn't fall out my ass and onto the floor.
That's Lucifer.
He has to be, he looks just like Charlie.
His smile widened when he saw us, and his eyes landed directly onto me. Alastor seemed to be leading me closer to them, but my feet anchored themselves into the ground.
He paused and turned towards me. Lucifer and I were having a staring contest, and I felt frozen.
"Darling...come, let's introduce you..." Alastor said quietly and I shook my head.
"Mm-mm..." I said, not breaking eye contact with Lucifer. He tilted his head, an amused look on his face.
Alastor chuckled and picked me up, taking me over against my will. With each step I felt more and more nervous.
Alastor placed me on my feet in front of Lucifer and I looked up at him. My eyes were wide as he stared down at me. He blinked and my gaze immediately fell to my hands.
"Hello, you're a just a little thing, aren't you?" He said, and I felt my skin prickle at the sound of his voice. I'm so terrified right now it's unbelievable.
"Um...yes, I've noticed that..." I replied quietly and he chuckled.
"Let me see your face, sweetheart, look at me," I did so, slowly, and his yellow eyes made me sweat.
His stared at me for an uncomfortably long time, the air having a menacing static surrounding us. Then suddenly his entire demeanor changed and his smile turned bright instead of threatening.
"Well she's just precious! Look at her!" He turned to the owl, who gave me a soft smile and a wink. I was so confused. Lucifer touched me and I flinched away from him, immediately clutching Alastor's arm.
Lucifer chuckled and beckoned me back towards him.
"Come, come...let's introduce ourselves, I am Lucifer Magne, king of hell," he held his hand out. I reached out slowly and shook it, "my name is Ariel...um...It's wonderful to meet you," I said softly and he tilted his head.
"You as well! I hope Alastor here treats you right?" He asked me, and I nodded immediately.
"He treats me wonderfully! He's everything I could've ever asked for," I said, smiling up at Alastor who seemed to relax slightly at my words. He smiled softly down at me, and Lucifer glanced between us.
"Interesting...Alastor, I'm happy to see you accepted my invitation," Lucifer said with a sly grin. Alastor growled but bowed his head,
"How could I refuse, your majesty," was his rough reply. I chuckled nervously and gently tugged on Alastor's sleeve.
He looked down at me and I gave him a soft look. His thin pupils slowly rounded out and he sighed.
"Thank you...for the invitation," he said reluctantly and Lucifer seemed surprised. He glanced between me and Alastor and his smile widened.
"Well...enjoy the party...Radio Demon...and Radio Mistress."
