After the gala, the last thing Liya wanted to do was go home.
Convincing Warren to waste time with a quick drive up the coast, she lay her head on the leather seats of his Mercedes and let her mind rest.
When one hour turned into two, Warren finally put an end to her insanity and headed home. The whole drive back, Liya was silent as Nate's words haunted her. 'My heart will always belong to you too.'
Why was it so hard letting go?
"Are you alright?" Warren asked as he pulled up to her house.
"I'm fine. Really." She lied and the worried look that marred his face remained.
"If you need to talk...call me." He motioned with his hand.
"Good night, Warren." She laughed and closed the door to his car before heading inside.
While the night hadn't turned out as she expected, she was glad it was over. She couldn't take another second in Nate's presence.
Dragging herself to the front door, she totally missed the fact that a strange car was parked in their driveway. Stopping to find her keys, she jumped as Kaitlyn quickly opened and closed it behind her. "Liya, we tried to make him go but..."
A look of confusion marred her face as she tried to understand what her best friend was telling her. Looking over her shoulder, she realized that the car in the driveway didn't belong to Ryan.
As her eyes grew wider, she realized it could only belong to one other person. Before she had a chance to turn and run for dear life, the front door opened and Liya found herself staring into the blue eyes that haunted her these past months.
"Where the hell have you been, Liya?" Nate towered over her and without warning, her legs gave way. The last thing she remembered, as everything faded to black, was how damn good it felt when his strong arms wrapped around her.
