The next week the new term started, the first day of which was met with groans and moans as students got up early in the morning, once more yearning for the carefree days of vacation.
However the sixth years moods changed almost instantaneously with a simple of parchment posted on the notice board.
"Appertition lessons!" Ron said excited craning his neck over the heads of the other students to read the parchment.
"This is gonna be great!" Ron said in stark contrast to a few seconds ago when he was composing about having to go back to classes.
"Yeah this should be great, hopefully I won't lose my good hand though" (Y/n) said taking his arm off and waving it at a first year, who ran out of the portrait hole screaming.
"Mate you gotta stop doing that" Harry said with a yawn. "It's bloody disturbing even for us"
"Yeah well" (Y/n) as he reattached it to his arm "I get a pretty good kick out of it"
"It does cost twelve galleons though" Ron said disheartened as he felt deep into his pockets.
"I think you dropped this Ron" (Y/n) said with a wink, dropping a dozen galleons into his hand. "Anyway gotta run don't want to be late for some convincing lie I can't be bothered to make up"
And with that he made his way out of the common room, with Ron looking after him shocked.
"Luna!" (Y/n) shouted out to a blond haired girl who looked as though her mind was miles away, causing many heads in the hall to turn and look at him confused.
"Sorry" he mouthed before making his way swiftly across the hall and pulling Luna into a tight hug.
"Oh hello (Y/n)" she said with a smile after he had let her go. "Fancy meeting you here"
"How was your Christmas Luna?" He asked her, walking along with her.
"Not bad, the flapwingers stayed away at least" she said dreamily, appear to follow her feet.
"Flapwinger? Those are the little snow thingies right?" (Y/n) asked her, still not fully up to date on all the mystical creatures that the ministry won't tell people about.
She let out a giggle "she the little snow thingies. Anyway how was your break?"
"Not too bad spent the first bit with the Weasley and then after I got poisoned I spent the rest with Hermione" he explained, glazing over the severity of his near death experience.
"Ron finally grow tired of you?" Luna joked.
"Nah Ron's too thick to poison me, headed end up giving me the pumpkin juice and drinking the poison himself" (Y/n) added with a laugh.
The rest of (Y/n)'s day was pretty uneventful, no one tried to poison him, no death threats, and no duels. So overall a pretty boring day.
He did get to talk with Garth a little bit though which was always nice. Apparently his mum didn't want him coming back to Hogwarts. His dad was able to convince her to let him come back, and (Y/n) promised him that he'd reach him some defensive magic, just in case.
"We'll at least were one day closer to the summer" Ron said glumly sitting down heavily into a chair by the fire.
"Ron!" Lavender called to him, running over and pulling him into a tight hug.
"And that's my cue to leave" (Y/n) said getting up from his chair.
"Don't leave me here" Harry muttered to him.
"No worries I got you mate" (Y/n) whispered back, before clearing his throat.
He could see the regret in Harry's eyes before he even said a word.
"Everyone listen up! Harry Potter, yes that's right the Harry Potter, the boy who lived, the chosen one, the ever most famous Harry Potter has violent diarrhea! He must leave at once no questions asked, please I request everyone move out of his way."
"I hate you" Harry hissed at (Y/n), his face the colour of Ron's hair.
"What you wanted to get out didn't you?" (Y/n) replied to him with a devilish grin.
The next morning Harry sat down with Hermione and (Y/n) and explained to them the task that Dumbledore had set for him.
"That's it? Just get some old dude to tell you about the nose-less nuisance when he was a kid, how hard can that be?" (Y/n) asked him.
"I don't know" Hermione said less optimistically "he hasn't even told Dumbledore, whatever it is he must think it's bad"
"Oh come one how bad could it be? It's not like Slughorn, leader of the slug club, pulled flat nose Franky aside after class and told him to go off all the muggle borns" (Y/n) said with a chuckle, and a small wave towards Slughorn.
"I doubt he was that blunt about it mate" Harry said, rolling his eyes.
"Maybe Slughorn suggested something that set him in this path" Hermione thought out loud. "And these horcruxes... horcruxes I've never heard of these before."
"I know!" (Y/n) blurted out suddenly "maybe it's a new type of potion that'll help him tan, that pale skin tone of his really doesn't suit him. Or a spell to get a new nose, I mean really it's not a good look for him"
"Perhaps some type of dark magic?" Hermione suggested.
"Worse than the killing curse?" Harry asked her.
"Mate there are a lot of things worse than the killing curse, like having to listen to Ron and Lavender. Eugh I'd take death over that any day" he said making a face.
"Whatever it is Harry you need to come up with a plan, think up a strategy for this" Hermione told him.
"You could lock him in a room with fire, I'm sure that would get him talking. Or set fire to his office? Or his house.... Does he have a house?" (Y/n) suggested before getting lost in his thoughts.
"Ron suggested maybe I just stay back a bit after potions and... well you know" Harry explained to them.
"Set fire to the classroom! That's genius Harry!" (Y/n) said, snapping back to the conversation.
