You put your hands and shoe into the fence holes and started pushing yourself up.

The lights of the store were out.

"He probably didn't show," you told yourself. "If he was here, the lights would be on. He's likely at the water tower by now, burning that book and ready to throw Dipper's vessel off the ledge."

Still, you climbed to the top of the fence.

Upon reaching the top, you realized you'd have to jump down the same distance you'd climbed up.

"Fuck it," you said, exhausted, and slid off, falling on your already bruised and busted legs.

You stumbled around for a minute, trying to balance after that fall, then walked to the door.

Your hand stopped before reaching the handle.

What if it was locked?

What if he didn't show?

What if this was a waste of time... or worse... The Pines could figure out you'd been working for their enemy, and then... shit this could go bad.

You pushed on the handle...

...

It was locked... the door was locked...

He didn't show.

"That's it then," you thought. A tear started falling from your eye. "It's over..."

Then... the sweet sound of creaking metal emanated from the fence behind you.

You turned to face it, and there he was, gripping his vessel's hands to the chain-link fence.

"I'm not late," Bill said, lifting himself to the top of the fence. "You didn't give me a time, so I came when I wanted."

He tossed himself to the ground, falling back on his... well... Dipper's side. Bill laughed at the shooting pain through the shoulder and hip of his temporary body as he started to stand.

You noticed once he'd gotten to his feet that Dipper was not tall. Of course you knew this before, but it just felt so much more relevant when the creature you had feelings for possessed him.

It was so... awkward, honestly. This was awkward in so many ways.

"You actually showed up," you said, smiling.

"This better be good," he exclaimed with annoyance in those beautiful, yellow eyes.

"Where's the book," you asked, a bit concerned.

"Are you really in a position to be calling the shots here," he asked back. He removed the journal from the back of his coat, holding it protectively in "his" hands. "I have the book and Pinetree's  meat suit," he told you, "Now talk."

Finally able to talk to him, you spoke from the heart, "I want to tell you the truth... the whole truth that I haven't told a single person since I've been here. I tried to tell you before, but you didn't want to listen..." You looked around in the dark, starry night. "Can we go inside? This is gonna be a long story."

Bill hesitated, then sighed and said, "Alright, but you're keeping me waiting quite a bit today, and I don't have the patience for this!"
