Chapter 2

|butterflies, the beautiful kind|

With clammy hands Rosé pressed the buzzer of her best friend's apartment, every time she goes here she gets reminded of how well off Jisoo actually is

There's a muffled shout before the door opens revealing Jisoo, the doctor is wearing her usual work attire which is a short summer dress

"Hey?" Rosé says, her voice barely a whisper

"What are you doing here?" Jisoo says, her tone guarded, kinda like she's saying she's not angry but she'll slam the door in my face

"I probably deserve that" she says

Jisoo turned her back inside the apartment but kept the door opened which Rosé took as an initiative to get inside "you deserve a beating that's what"

"You and me both know you can't throw a fist to a woman"

Jisoo shrugs, "I think Jimin from third grade disagrees"

"Jimin's a boy, you're thinking Jimin on 5th grade, she's the girl, scary face"

Jisoo nods but doesn't say anything else, "night shift?" She asks

"Yeah, Sunmi is being a bitch about me rejecting her"

"Oh, you didn't go out with her?"

Jisoo avoids her gaze, "I did but you know she's not my type"

"Right. Of course"

Awkward silence fell on them and Rosé is struggling to find a topic to keep the conversation going

"Look Jisoo, I- I just came to apologize" she starts, "I know I've been a bitch and all and I'm sorry and I hope you can forgive me"

"We've been friends since preschool, Rosie" Jisoo states, "this is the first time this happened, I'm usually good at reading these kind of situations but now I'm left in the dark"

"And judging from the long and elaborate message I got from Jennie I'm guessing she knows?"

"Yep" Rosé says popping the p

"...and you will..?"

"I'll tell you but after your shift, you might be opening up someone's brain and I don't know how you'll react to this"

"Then I guess I'll see you tomorrow morning?" Jisoo says in a sickly sweet tone that means she's pissed that she has to wait

They both walk out of the high rise building, Rosé spots the Aston Martin that Jisoo drives occasionally when she needs to show off

"What happened to the BMW? And who's the girl?" She asks playfully

"The 'girl' is the hospital director, I need to remind her who is the only daughter of her hospital's biggest benefactor and the BMW is in the shop"

"Why what happened to the car?" She asks

"Lisa chipped it, thanks to her stupid driving" Rosé can hear the irritation in her best friend's voice so she decides not to push it

"I'll see you later, Rosé" Jisoo says before running to her car and speeding off

There's a silent hum in the hospital hallways as Jisoo strides to the doctor's lounge to change into her scrub

She spots Lisa and Seulgi talking animatedly over a cup of coffee

"Chu, still on night shift?" Lisa asks
