Chapter 54 - "Strong Parent"

"I feel like a bitch" Harper says as Kelly walks through the doors
"Huh?" Kelly asks as he sits his keys down
"It's Shay's 10 year anniversary and I didn't ask if you were okay" Harper explains
"I'm all good" Kelly adds
"Kelly, please" Harper says
"Please what? Your the one who's been distant!" Kelly yells
"Kelly we've been through this! I'm not doing it again! I've done nothing wrong!" Harper yells
"Oh and I have? I didn't sleep with her! God! I've tried to do everything by the book! I tried Harper I really did! But you knew 13 years ago that I wasn't the relationship type of guy! But you still married me!" Kelly screams
"Your not that man anymore Kelly! Your not the kind and loving man that I married! You've kissed another woman whilst being married to me! You've gone A wall! You've smashed out wedding photo but for some sickening reason I chose to stay! I chose to be Mrs Severide! I chose to walk on your arm at events!" Harper yells
"Well you've made it clear what you want! Go ahead! Destroy this family! Have the kids grow up like you when you finally kill yourself! Whether it's on a call or simply on your own terms! I'm not here to protect you anymore!" Kelly yells before walking past her
Harper just stares at the wall, blankly. She can feel the tears welling up inside of her and chooses to keep it that way. She then hears little footsteps
"Mom?" Aria asks, groggily
"Yes, sweetie?" Harper says, pulling herself together
"Is daddy okay? I heard him crying through the walls?" Aria asks
"I'm sure he's great honey, now off you go! Back to bed!" Harper says as aria walks back into her room
Harper sits on the couch, hunched over. Kelly was the "strong parent" he never showed the kids any emotion. If he needed to vent or cry, he would do it behind closed doors. Harper on the other hand wasn't. The kids knew she had been through a lot, they knew when she had bad calls or just wasn't feeling it. She would cry in front of them, but she would always cover herself up. She was never afraid to show her emotions, only on calls. She just simply can't handle her emotions as well as Kelly, which made her think. Was she the problem? Was she the reason her and Kelly's relationship had hit the rocks? She was splitting up a family, what if something did happen to her? What would happen to the kids?
